Arsenal are top although still not playing as well as this time last season. Many believe they will have a strong finish to the season. Liverpool are second and surprising many. A good point at the Etihad was followed up by a late comeback and 3 points at home to Fulham. In the spring they will be playing Thursday-Sunday and so catch up in the league. Will this have an effect? Klopp remains a genius, so maybe not. City are in 3rd and and usually don't click into gear until February. Villa are the surprise in 4th, mostly on home form. Emery is showing his class. Title contenders? Probably not.
Spurs sit 5th and despite a long list of injuries remain in contention. Newcastle have performed heroics and have risen up the table on the QT. Now in 6th they are only 7 points off Arsenal. Can they keep it up? Probably not, but we have 6 teams playing some brilliant football. Every week sees big games involving the top 6 and the wannabies like Brighton, Man U, West Ham and Chelsea. Don't rule out a late run from any of them. Well, maybe don't expect one from Man U.
They have taken just one point out of the last 60 possible against top 10 teams. Yes, incredible though it sounds, they have drawn one and lost 19 against their direct rivals since last spring. On Saturday night they went to Newcastle and got a lesson on desire. If it wasn't for Maguire and Shaw at centre-back they would have received an absolute hammering. Rashford was a disgrace, Martial little better.
Their unwillingness to track back was the stuff of nightmares for their long suffering fans. Garnacho didn't help much on the other wing either. Their midfield was absent. Apparently EtH has lost the dressing room. According to "Sky sources" he lost the dressing room in the summer by over working the little poppets in pre-season training and then sent their mate, Sancho, to train with the academy kids for not apologising after the "row".
Next week is the big announcement from Ineos about the future of United. I can hardly wait! What next for the Glazer's cash cow? Where is the Ineos money coming from? Jim Ratcliffe's pocket or a loan? What will the new system look like? Who will make the decisions? One thing is for sure, after 10 years of slow rot, they are going to have to get this right. Big, big problems need to be addressed. Tis going to be interesting. Chelsea, Bournmouth, Liverpool, West Ham and Aston Villa await in the EPL this month, with a must-win against Munich in the UCL. If ten Hag doesn't turn the ship around soon, they could be out of Europe this season and next before the New Year.

Reds got lucky on sunday . Kelleher conceded 4 on the final day of last season , he doesn't inspire confidence , neither does the non existent defending of Trent . Reds play early again on saturday V Palace , 60 hrs after a trip to the new manager Blades . Villa have taken 77 points from the last 38 PL games ! Next up , City .
ReplyDeleteTrent got MOTM against City even though Doku pulled his pants down on a number of occasions. He is a liability in defence and a genius going forward.
DeleteOn City's current form I can't see us beating Villa tonight.
We display occasional flashes of cohesion coupled with explosive diarrhea brain farts. Even the normally immense Silva has dropped several clangers. Still, Poch has earned our respect. Hopefully we stick with him and next season is better. No feckin europe for a few years though.
ReplyDeleteI think the base is there to build on. Still 3 or 4 players short of a good team despite the hundreds of millions spent. Fingers crossed you tank the scum tonight!
DeleteA lot of our players will be fantastic...but not for another 2 years I think. We need a great young CB, a no nonsense disciplined holding midfielder preferably experienced and we have never had a decent forward since Drogba. Jackson will get there but not for a few years yet despite scoring a hatrick against the yids and one against you lot. We are terrible during first half v the scum.
