City

So, my club, Man City, have been accused of cooking the books. This comes from the hacking of several top clubs by a Portuguese hacker many years ago, the findings of which were published by Der Speigel.

After a 5 year investigation, City have been charged with over 100 violations of concealing spending or inflating figures to avoid Financial Fair Play. City have said they have verifiable proof that they are innocent as charged and are looking forward to an independent investigation to clear their name. Just like they did for the UEFA investigation. I think it is highly likely that most clubs are cooking the books to some extent. If City are guilty, I hope they get the kitchen sink thrown at them. Their are few things in life as disgusting as watching billionaires get away with shit, just cos they're billionaires. Obviously I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Kane

"Arry's only just gone an'done it! With Harry Kane's goal on Sunday agianst City, the Spurs hitman has become a Spurs legend, surpassing Jimmy Greaves' record of 266 goals for the North Londoners. What a fantastic achievement considering most of the senior pros at Spurs were decidedly unimpressed when Kane joined the first team squad back in 2009. Many have gone on record admitting that they thought he didn't have what it takes to reach the top. They were wrong. Not only did Kane get the Spurs record, but it was also his 200th EPL goal, making him only the 3rd man in the league's history to hit the double century. He is now just 6 behind Wayne Rooney, a target he should pass this season, fingers crossed. And he is only 60 behind Alan Shearer. If he stays fit he should pass that one too before he retires. Let's hope so. Shearer was a nasty cunt who got away with murder because of his England status. Go Harry!

Marsch

I was saddened to hear that the likeable Yank was sacked by Leeds. I watched the game against Forest on Sunday and they were unlucky to lose, but that means only three points from the last 21 available. They sit outside of the relegation zone on goal difference only and face Man U twice in the EPL this week (away on Wed, home on Sunday). The clubs around them have been picking up points of late and Everton seem to be getting a post-Lampard bounce.

All this meant Marsch had to go. His fate probably hinged on the disastrous decision to bring on his top-scorer and club talisman, Rodrigo, against Accrington in the FA cup last week. With Rodrigo on the bench and the team winning 0-3, Marsch decided to bring him on, only to see him ballix his ankle and face 2 months on the treatment table. With Bamford as reliable as an Austin Allegro, that was the last thing Leeds or Marsch needed. Let's hope they get their own bounce, starting with Man U on Wednesday. The EPL needs Leeds.

  1. Klopp has never rebuilt a team . Don't expect him to do so @ Anfield . LFC will be lucky to avoid the drop this season ; mentally & physically the team are playing like 40 yr olds . The rebuild should of started last summer , why he bought 2 strikers instead of midfielders ( during the last 2 windows ) is baffling . Hosting Dyche's boys next monday will be interesting .

    1. More people are coming to think his time at LFC is coming to a close. I don't think they are at risk of relegation but their performances have been woeful and they are not going to improve with this current squad. Last season told as much for what wasn't said. All the emphasis was on how close they were to taking four trophies. They reached three finals and never scored a goal, either in open play or from set pieces. They won two cups on penalty shootouts.

  2. A sad and depressing weekend for Leeds United. But now that the dust is setting on Jesse's sacking, I believe it was the correct decision as his style of playing up the middle when we have so many wide sided players has not been delivering the wins we need. The sacking of Bielsa this time last year has led to some division among the fan base due to his divine statues in the city of Leeds. But it too was the correct one as his frenetic, man marking style was leading to multiple thrashings. Who should be the next saviour? Corberon served a valuable apprenticeship under the Master and is certainly a promotion winning manager. My preference is for Iraoli as he is a proven success in an equivalent league to the Premiership; namely La Liga. But farewell Jesse, you kept us up last season and for that I am eternally grateful. That is all that I wish of your successor this season.

I am loath to comment on the travails of other clubs but I fear that Liverpool end this season in a fug of absolute mediocrity which could well have carry over effects to next season. I wonder if Klopp has lost the dressing room or if too many Liverpool players are on Easy Street knowing that they will not be round next season.

    1. Good luck against the scum tonight and at the weekend. I hope you get Iraola, he's working wonders at Rayo.

  3. I want Mourinho back at Chelsea. There. I said it.

    1. Chelsea has the talent to come good. Liverpool doesn't. Why Trent is not in midfield where he would likely excel above the current lot baffles me. He underachieves in defence. The team in general looks like an old mattress - looks firm at the top and bottom but is seriously saggy in the middle.

    2. It's not so much underachieving in defense, TAA doesn't appear to know even the basics of defending. One hell of a winger though.

    Wise up! He's yesterday's man

    1. Don't care. Potter is out of his depth. I saw flashes of Drogba in Fofana and Mourinho would get the best out of him.

    2. TAA hasn't a defensive bone in his body. Far better attacking.

    3. Steve - I think so too. A quality player hopelessly out of position and not in a position where he would be much better than any of those in it now are. Thiago is good but only when Liverpool run the game not when they are under pressure and chasing the ball

  5. Peter relax....It's only football.

  6. In the wider scheme of things a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford is a good result. But I would like to think we can keep a two goal lead in the return bout on Sunday at Elland Road.

  7. It was a very good result although there will be huge disappointment at losing a two goal advantage.

  8. Who the fuck you calling scum, Peter, do you know where Manchester is? Ever seen shitty, sorry City play? Maine Road, some good battles there back in the day.
