Enda CraigPeople in Moville town and surrounding areas are all of the one mind and that is we need a WWTP (Water Waste Treatment Plant) very badly. All agreed.

But it is only right that a proposal that has the potential to do untold harm is subjected to scrutiny to see that we are not being sold a pup.

It is on that basis that the Community For a Clean Estuary examined the plans and found them badly wanting. It was not only the CFCE that found them defective but the overall authority in Brussels .. the European Commission.

People in this locality should speak to Buncrana residents and find out what happened their local beauty spot and bathing waters at Ladies Bay. It was turned into an open sewer after DCC built and commissioned a similar plant to what they proposed for Moville/Greencastle in 1990 - an environmental disaster.

Had it not been for the intervention of the CFCE we would now find ourselves in a similar position between Moville and Greencastle.....

The very least people should do is read the articles and if they have questions and concerns then voice them. At least come from a position of understanding and together we can solve this problem without the divide and conquer strategy being deployed by Irish Water.

  1. Sure ye won't pay your water charges which also include sewage & effluent

The people before ye in 1977 were sucking on Fianna Fáil's seduction tit ... abolish rates and no consequences!

last week I paid a regulated collector €200 to pump out my septic (he asked €220)

My neighbour would have done it as a favour and mixed it with the effluent from his slatted house
The water table is already probably fcuked and yet I'd prefer to be personally responsible for my own shit

    Nuff said
    You probably think I stink

  2. You are absolutely correct Enda We have one chance to get this right. Irish Water are not Credible or Reliable. Under Pressure from Europe The Irish Government must comply with EU Environmental Law and install a State of The Art Major Sewerage Scheme for TheEntire East Inishowen Basin of Lough Foyle with Discharges of Fresh Treated Water beyond Inishowen Head into The North Atlantic. No more second class shit from Irish Water or The Irish Government. Regards Sean MacBride

  3. Henry Joy .... the people of Ireland are paying by general taxation for water charges since 1997 through specially commenced legislation .... you want to pay a second time well then that's your decision ................ this short video explains our reasoning for opposition to IW's PLANS ......http://buncranatogether.com/home/2019/6/15/movillegreencastle-environmental-group-community-for-a-clean-estuary-launch-short-film-to-highlight-concerns-with-irish-waters-proposed-sewage-treatment-plant

    1. Enda we'll have to agree to disagree about how water & sewerage ought be funded.

On the siting of the treatment plant and discharge pipes I'll concede. Doesn't make any sense at all discharging into the lough.
