  1. “Oh so you think all religions are same...?”

  2. No, not all the same, but equally ridiculous in their core tenets..

  3. Steve, we both know how this ends.

  4. I think to properly debate spirituality we first have to understand consciousness

  5. Daithi, shall we dance before the curtain falls?

  6. Steve, haha forever opposite sides of the barricades I’m afraid. I don’t dance with men either, Christ I haven’t even danced since you could smoke inside clubs.

  7. Is Steve, I have an email address I use to sign up with things I can burn , if we need to insult each other in the future, maybe can do it off site. excowboy39@hotmail.com let me know if you email it and I don’t reply incase it goes to junk . I’ll send you a pic from my dancing days , I could of passed for the girl our dance.

  8. Daithi, halcyon days when your feet would stick to the floor, the ceiling was blanketed by fumes of benson and hedges and you would never contemplate taking a dump in the bogs.

Get yer coat you've pulled lol

  9. David Higgins,

agreed, if we rely only on the intellect its hard, if not impossible, to experience altered states. Not everyone has a strong enough bridge through the corpus callosum, unless of course they use opiates, to allow them experience their hiving or transcendence parts.

  10. David- consciousness is a product of our evolution, nothing more.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Steve,
A product of evolution is a very complex issue. High end theoretical physicists openly admit they can't properly define or comprehend consciousness. If you want to rubbish them, go ahead, it's beyond my thinking capacity. Just because you've discovered religion is bullshit and can relate to scientific theory doesn't mean you understand the nature of the universe. You all seem in a rush to prove you're right which for me is self defeating

  12. David,

Stevie and Daithi always end up going gay on religion and science. Their recent exchange just reinforces the point. Henry was only partly correct when he said " Not everyone has a strong enough bridge through the corpus callosum, unless of course they use opiates". You don't always need 'drugs' to produce trance like states..

Yogi's, ancient Egyptian's and Rick Strassman are of the school of thought consciousness lies somewhere between the pineal gland, the third eye and DMT.

Ancient civilization's knew more than we know about who we are and were we came from than we know today. Egyptian hieroglyphs show the pineal gland. I don't buy into the line of thought that Giza was built in 20yrs..Works out at blocks weighing ton's laid perfectly inline with the star's every 2min's (give or take) with out a break. We couldn't do it today and remember folk's, they used bronze tool's.

Live science articles don't add up stevie.

  13. Or my most successful line “you will enjoy it more if you stop fighting, you want to see your family again right ? Then do as I say” Yep, those were the days.

  14. Frankie,
Ancient understanding of weight distribution and logistics of such construction still bamboozles us stonemasons to this day.

  15. David,

" High end theoretical physicists openly admit they can't properly define or comprehend consciousness"

I should hope not, that's a completely different field of science compared to what they are doing!

"doesn't mean you understand the nature of the universe"

    Never said I did?

More bollocks regarding the ancient Egyptians and the pyramids frankie? Why do you persist in going straight for a complex answer rather than a simple one?

When I hear hooves I think horses not camels.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Stevie,

Maybe because the simple answer doesn't add up. If you want to believe a couple of donkeys and camels pulled the blocks weighing several tons up to 100's of ton's up mountains and crossed ravines all aided by bronze aged man cutting the blocks into place then you would be aswell buying into the bearded hippy who walked on water school of thought.

  17. Steve- not necessarily, i have heard one theoretical physicist describe consciousness as the matrix behind the matter. From string theory to multi universe theory many believe a better understanding of consciousness could unlock the enigma. Never meant to insinuate that you understood the mysteries merely that you talk in absolutes with a slighty arrogant attitude. I don't see the benefit of that.

  18. Frankie, the real conspiracy around the pyramids is that we are tricked into displaying awe for these products of slave labour whilst simultaneously witnessing the demands for Confederate type monuments in America’s Deep South should be removed for their looser associations with slavery.

  19. And as for the gay comment, never mind the claptrap about the pineal gland/third eye, let Steve R introduce you to the hidden wonders of ‘the brown eye’. Wink wink!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Frankie....

OK I will indulge you, how do you think the pyramids were built?

    David,

I don't mean to come over arrogant, one of the curses of the written word is that intonation is lost somewhat. I am however a materialist. To me the arrogance of homo sapiens is that they somehow occupy a 'special' place in the Universe. Given the age and utter vastness of the cosmic soup we inhabit there is nothing remotely remarkable about us. But we can use scientific principles to understand better our place on Earth and in this regard I am of the strong opinion that what we describe as our 'consciousness' is a product of our evolution in becoming a 'Great Ape'. Put it this way, we can communicate with Gorilla's to a great degree, there are African Grey Parrots that have the equivalent IQ of a human 5 year old child and even dolphins which are aware of 'self', and display altruistic behaviours in saving humans in difficulties, in the ocean.

Now if we have consciousness, what do they have? The same? In my youth I dabbled and enjoyed psychedelic substances, encountered products of my mind that others would deem 'spiritual', but never anything that made me think that we are 'unique' on earth. Frankie made the point in an earlier thread about other animals enjoying being stoned on certain plants, I'd wager it happens quite a lot more than we think, and with that I suggest they too have a sense of consciousness.

  21. Daithi,

Slave labour didn't build the pyramids. Skilled masons/brick layers...built them with lot's of elbow grease...And help from alien technology and concepts that we today are still trying to replicate. And that goes for megaliths across this rock.

Gobekli Tepe was built give or take 12,000 CBE...History taught at school tells kids we were still living in caves and howling at the moon at the same time. Things don't add up and the narrative keeps changing.

  22. DaithiD,

One in the pink and one in the stink! Nudge Nudge!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Steve- I don't have the intellect to dissect consciousness. I don't mean the arrogant comment to come across as critical. I don't see the benefit of a Gervais style assualt on religion. A competent seven year old could find holes in the bible but laughing at it collectively for me kind of hinders aspects of metaphysical debate.

    ReplyDelete
  24. David,

Fair enough, in some sense I suspect you are right. But religion should never be afforded an easy ride, it will attempt to control if given a chance.

    Frankie,

"Gobekli Tepe was built give or take 12,000 CBE...History taught at school tells kids we were still living in caves and howling at the moon at the same time."

What school where you going to? Homo sapiens have been knocking about for at least 300 thousand years, far beyond the 5k you mention! Funny how people always use the zero point of the Gregorian calendar as a reference point...

And what in the name of gibbering Odin are you on about "alien tech and concepts"? The megaliths are astrological calenders, our ancestors spent a lot of time without Sky+ looking up at the night and day sky and were adept navigators, ET not required!
