The Architects of Conflict: How the West Was Manufactured Into War in Ukraine

In George Orwell’s 1984, the Ministry of Truth rewrote history to fit the Party’s latest lies, and the Ministry of Peace waged endless wars in the name of harmony. Today, Orwell’s fiction has become our foreign policy. The war in Ukraine is not just a tragedy, it is a meticulously scripted performance, choreographed by the empire and sold to the public as liberation.

In a rare moment of candour, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, offers a devastating account of how Washington’s foreign policy machine manufactures war through manipulation, propaganda, and covert influence. This is not speculation or fringe theory; this is a senior U.S. military insider pulling back the curtain on how the empire operates.

His words matter now more than ever. Because while British media continue to distract away from poverty and corruption, a new generation of European leaders, Starmer, Macron, Merz, and Tusk, have flown into Kyiv to pledge further support for the grinding war in Ukraine. More arms, more sanctions, more bloodshed. All in the name of “Peace.”

  1. How much did the Kremlin pay him for this apologia for Russian Imperialism and Putin's lies?

    1. why don't you engage with his argument instead of smearing him? I find lots wrong with the piece but he is relying on a senior inside source for a perspective. Warmongers like Starmer are not supporting Ukraine for ethical reasons. The writer has every right to question their motives.

  2. It is a word for word almost rehash of the arguments made by the regressive left and isolationist right about the Maidan revolution and so-called NATO expansionism and the Azov Brigade. Putin is barely an after thought. What George Galloway or Nigel Farage could have written.

    1. then that is what you address, not smearing him as a paid puppet of Russia. My response would be the same if, in some of your earlier writing, you were described as a paid puppet of Netanyahu.
NATO is an expansionist body. It is not a force for peace. Many of its members have backed the genocide in Gaza.
The Azov brigade has a large Nazi component in its midst.
I think he got Maidan totally wrong.

  3. I do take back the paid puppet of Putin comment. It was just a piece of rhetoric. But he is right on one thing. The war started in 2014 with Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea a d subsequent subterfuges in the Donbass against the will of the majority there.

    1. and he allows for the inference to be drawn that the Russian intervention after 2014 was some sort of humanitarian military intervention.
There is much questionable about the analysis, so we play the ball not the man.

    2. we all lose the run of ourselves from time to time. But the blog has to protect its named writers. The invisible ones, they don't need it.

  4. Well articulated and well presented mixed media piece.Well done Paul.

Barry, did you bother to watch the supporting videos? Did you listen to Lawrence's whistle blowing testimony? Did you listen to Genocide Joe's pitch for the expansion of Nato from 1997?Probably not!

And AM did you fact check his claim that in 2004, before the CIA really got its teeth in, that less than 20% of Ukrainians favoured greater involvement with the EU over maintaining fraternal relations with Russia, before you drew your inferences?
    Probably not!

    1. HJ - do you think he is misleading us, hence the suggestion to fact check? That is when we usually fact check is it not? I think he is a great voice and not one who misleads. I disagree with his interpretation on a number of things such as Assisted Dying, but that does not reflect on him. We merely have different opinions on it.
The thing about Mearsheimer and Realism is that when we check it we never find the impulse for military intervention in anything humanitarian. The impulse for military intervention is guided by the core realist principle: what is in it for us?
Any inference that a right wing capitalist state suddenly decided on humanitarian military intervention seems seriously misplaced, even if Hitler did cite it for his takeover of the Sudetenland. It requires the sort of logic that would see the apple, once falling from the tree, to float up rather than fall down.

  5. Paul doesn't claim that it was a humanitarian intervention AM. Though that was the inference that you drew fom it, I see Russia's intervention as an inevitable situational response. The video with Genocide Joe from 1997 clearly reveals US intent. The one with the retired Colonel reveals their methods; manipulation, propaganda and covert influence. The CIA gameplanned this war from the start.

    (Thanks for carrying Paul's work.)

    1. That is sort of the point behind the inference - because he did not make the claim we are left to infer from what he said. That does not make the inference right. But the inference and his 20% reference are wholly separate from each other.

His work has appeared here a few times. He runs a very good site.
