Dixie Elliot ✍ So a group of knuckle-draggers, calling themselves R.A.A. has emerged to threaten Gerry Carroll on a wall in Belfast.

I've been told that RAA means 'Republicans Against Anti-fascism' which, to state the obvious, makes them racists.

I'm certain that all Republicans would agree that their use of 'Republicans' is an insult to those brave men and women, who gave their lives for the Cause of Irish Republicanism, and those of us who are still alive.

I'm left thinking that one of them came up with the acronym RAA so that it would sound like 'RA'. You know what I mean, 'Ooh ah up the Ra' and they thought, 'fuck we need to get this up on a wall.'

And so they decided to err on the side of caution, and target Gerry Carroll.

I was just sent this screenshot so I decided to add it. I see they even have their own logo...

Liars For Racism

The name of this page, 'Lawyers for Injustice Ireland' is meant to mislead people.

I myself was taken in by it until I realised that it was run by liars and not lawyers. Racist liars.

It is a gathering place for racist morons who worship at the altar of the most high Conor McGregor, as you would see if you visit that cesspit of a page.

According to the 'Liars For Racism', Conor McGregor is a champion of the people.

F*cking hell! This is the coked-up thug who punches old men in bars, is a rapist and a friend of the Kinahan drugs cartel which is the most dangerous enemy of the Irish people, destroying lives by getting our young people hooked on drugs from a early age.

Racism is a contagion of hate which is rapidly spreading throughout the length and breadth of our beautiful country.

These bigoted fools refer to 'our great heroes of the Nationalist tradition' and 'the soul of the Irish Nation' in an effort to lift a punch-drunk thug off the floor and raise him up on to a pedestal of hate.

They are ignorant at best in regards to the history of the Irish people, of the Irish immigrants, who had no choice other than to leave the land they loved and travel to the far-off shores of countries like America and Australia. Who fled from starvation with their families during the Irish Holocaust. Who were evicted from their homes, built from whatever the earth provided, by ruthless landlords, many of whom didn't even live in Ireland.

The racism we are witnessing today in Ireland is the same racism faced by Irish immigrants almost as soon as they stepped off the ships and were herded like cattle through Ellis Island processing station.

The ignorant racists who accuse immigrants of coming here and taking from us conveniently ignores what the English have come here and taken from us by force.

Cretinism

I appear to have upset quite a few Irish fascists on the Belfast Live Sport page with the comment below about McGregor and Trump.

One of these Blueshirts is a cretin by the name of Fintan Mc Loughlin who commented, 'Homicidal? That's rich coming from a convicted bomber.'

Now here's the thing, I had a look at Mc Loughlin's page and he has photos of Bobby Sands, Francis Hughes, Ruairí Ó Brádaigh etc and various other Republican images.

He also is friends with five Republicans on my friends list.

  1. Well said Dixie. We should engage with all ideas and concerns but not those driven by hatred. Keep it up.

  2. I agree with your position on Conor McGregor Dixie. He would make a poor choice for president. However, the likelihood of him securing the support of 30 members of the Oireachtas or 4 local authorities for his nomination to succeed is very, very remote.

Citizens' legitimate concerns about housing availability and associated costs thereof will inevitably be exploited by those with fascistic leanings. To label those who erroneously correlate housing and immigration issues as 'Irish fascists' is an oversimplification of what is a complex challenge. Our ire ought to be directed at successive Freestate administrations.

    1. Henry Joy - I think my dog has more chance of becoming president. More critically, is that any campaign towards that end will galvanise the racists and fascists who will seek to tap into the sentiment you identify as having concerns without being racist.
There is a discussion to be had around how strategically productive it will be directing ire against the governing parties. The goal is to identify the most pressing concern and unite as many as possible around it while at the same time dividing the opposition. The progressive left need to avoid leftoid sectarianism and empty sloganising.

    2. If your dog and McGregor came to be on the ticket, your dog gets my vote!
On a more serious note Presidential elections here in Ireland are rarely about policy. They are more like a personality contest, with some emphasis on character as well as likeability.

My preference for the Presidency in this year's election is for Catherine Connolly, the Galway West sitting TD. I'm hopeful that the collective opposition, composed of SF, Labour, Social Dem's, and PBP could run an agreed candidate and jointly endorse Connolly's candidacy.

She has a strong left-leaning record. She voted for Richard Boyd Barrett for Taoiseach when the 32nd Dáil first met. At the 32nd Dáil's second meeting on 5 April 2016, she made her maiden speech in which she criticised the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Alan Kelly's handling of Ireland's homelessness crisis.[
Furthermore, she's a qualified barrister, clinical psychologist, former leas-ceancomhairle and has more to offer than most.

Wouldn't it be great to have a President of the Left called Connolly!!!!!

  3. There have always been racists, fascists, antisemites and nativists among the nationalist/republican firmament.

    1. Barry - that is to state the obvious. Dixie's point is that no authentic claim can be laid to republicanism by any of those engaged in racism.

Dixie is becoming a clever voice of republican anti-racism who in the tradition of the enlightenment can employ acerbic wit, satire and mockery to take down the hate mongers.

Very few who were on the blanket protest will be found in disagreement with him.

  4. HJ, is Catherine Connolly not an apologist for the former Assad regime in Syria?

    1. I wasn't aware of that, Barry.
Yet, I hope that the opposition will coalesce behind a decent candidate. I still believe Catherine would account well for herself in media and debates. She'd make a good choice as a SF/Labour/PBP endorsed choice.
