Forum is a regular one day event designed to keep freelance
journalists up to date with the latest developments in their
industry. Aimed at writers, photographers and PR practitioners, and
hoping to cover print, broadcast and online media, it is organised by
Dublin Freelance NUJ branch with support from Coimisiún na Meán.

The
#CIJLyraMcKee Bursary Scheme was established in memory of the young
and courageous Northern Irish investigative journalist Lyra McKee,
who was shot dead by dissident republicans in Derry in April 2019.
The aim of
this five-month bursary scheme is to train and mentor people from
underrepresented backgrounds, who aspire to become journalists or who
are at the very early stages of their journalism career.

Former IRA volunteer and ex-prisoner, spent 18 years in Long Kesh, 4 years on the blanket and no-wash/no work protests which led to the hunger strikes of the 80s. Completed PhD at Queens upon release from prison. Left the Republican Movement at the endorsement of the Good Friday Agreement, and went on to become a journalist. Co-founder of The Blanket, an online magazine that critically analyzed the Irish peace process. Lead researcher for the Belfast Project, an oral history of the Troubles.
