ReplyDeleteSinn Féin has declined to comment directly on an incident, filmed and circulated online, which appeared to show a number of Palestinian activists being thrown out of the party’s ‘Solidarity Rally for Palestine’ event in Belfast.
The event – which took place on Wednesday night at the Europa Hotel – had been billed as a “special meeting to mobilise support and solidarity with the Palestinian people”.
“This is an opportunity to demonstrate that Ireland stands with the people of Gaza and the West Bank and to reiterate calls for an immediate ceasefire, and an end to the occupation,” said South Antrim MLA Declan Kearney.
"The Israeli military onslaught against the Palestinian people is barbaric and in clear violation of international humanitarian law. An unconditional ceasefire must be urgently called and Israel must be held accountable for its actions.”
