Peter Anderson ⚽ Yet another great weekend of EPL football for us to savour.

I have to say it is great to have the fans back, it makes such a difference. This season, so far, has been fantastic and it looks set to be a classic. Game of the week was Liverpool at Brentford and the fans were brilliant. The Bees have been close to promotion so many times that it was fab to see them finally get their shot at the big time, and these are the games that the players and fans want to see: home to Liverpool, Van the Man, Wee Mo Salah et al.

Unsurprisingly, Brentford started the game on the front foot and caused the Reds problems all over the pitch. Liverpool's big, glaring weakness is at right back and Brentford took full advantage, scoring all three of their goals at the back post which Trent Alexander-Arnold was supposed to be covering. His inability to dominate his area of the pitch has cost him a starting position for England. Will Klopp find a solution for Liverpool? TA-A is too good to drop, his crosses and forward adventures are pivotal for Liverpool. He seems to know where Salah is going to be at every moment. So, is the solution to push him into midfield and get a proper defender in at right back?

Klopp will need to act quickly as it seemed Brentford's plan, all along, was to target that back post. Other teams will do the same thing. There's no point having Van Dijk in the middle if the right back is weak. The game finished 3-3 and was thoroughly entertaining fare for a Saturday evening. Brentford look odds on to stay up for another season.

In other matches, City dominated a weak Chelsea team and gave me great hope that the Blues were not going to run away with the title. And also, that adding Ronaldo to the Man U team was going to make them into a title contesting team, as the poor Red Devils fell to their second defeat in a week, losing 1-0 to West Ham in the Carabao and by the same score to Aston Villa in the EPL. Happy days for us Man U haters!

Sunday also gave us one of the best 45 minutes of football I have seen in a long time as the quickly improving Arsenal savaged a quickly deteriorating Spurs in the North London derby. I bet Levi is sorry he didn't take the £150 million from City for Kane and refresh his squad. Kane looks like a man scorned and Deli Ali looks a shadow of his former self. It is funny now watching Spurs flounder in mid-table obscurity when a few short months ago they thought of themselves as entitled to a golden ticket for the European Super League.

The EPL fun continues next week with Man U facing a tricky tie against Benitez's Everton on Saturday lunch time, while City travel to Anfield for the late Sunday afternoon game. Two more cracking ties to look forward to!

  1. The LFC-Brentford game was brilliant while Arsenal run riot against Spurs. Kane on go-slow is having an effect on the team. TAA might be the answer to a certain lack of creativity in midfield. He very much looks out of position - looks like a midfielder slotted into the role of right back. He doesn't have the canny awareness of James Milner. But Virgil was rooted to the floor for one of those goals.
Most important game of the weekend was the City-Chelsea one.

  2. The Reds 🔙 five defending was a rerun of the Evans & Rogers eras . Trent is injured, Milly will be filling in for a game or more.
Reds defence has looked suspect in recent games. Could of Are conceded three V Palace . The Brentford game could of ended five all .

If City win on Sunday , they are strong title favourites .
    I expect M U to ditch O G S for Conte or Anon ( very 🔜 ) 😒

    1. Not wrong. The man is ultra dedicated to his training/improvement and is reaping the benefit. He wants to go in to coaching at Old Trafford after too, hopefully he's crap at that!

  4. Hopefully he will keep on saving Ole's bacon. I dread to think what they would be like with a real manager!
