Prior to his death in November Tom Crawford answered 13 questions in a Booker's Dozen. As a tribute to him TPQ opens its 2021 BD season with his contribution.

TPQ: What are you currently reading?

TC: I just read Ian's blog piece and it inspired me to do mine ... for what it's worth.😜

A History of Ireland by Jonathan Bardon, Zionism by Michael Stanislawski & The Universe by A World of Knowledge.

TPQ: Best and worst books you have ever read?

TC: Best, there are many, I enjoyed Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman. Worst book, The Case for Christ by Lee Strobles.

TPQ: Book most cherished as a child?

TC: Understanding Science by Samson Low. It is now in tatters lol. Later as a teenager, my Gideon copy of the New Testament, it went everywhere with me.

TC: Patrick Moore on Astronomy / Arthur C Clarke.

TPQ: First book to really own you?

TC: Understanding Science, Samson Low and later, The Bible.

TC:  Hitchens, Dawkins, Ehrman.

TPQ: A preference for fact or fiction?

TC: Fact

TPQ: Biography, autobiography or memoir that most impressed you?

TC: Have never really been interested in any, in detail.

TPQ: Any author or book you point blank refuse to read?

TC: Any fiction.

TPQ: A book to share with somebody so that they would more fully understand you?

TC:  No one book in particular, it would be best to look at my book shelf where they would find, books about science, the weather, astronomy, theology, UFO’s, gardening, history and archaeology.

TPQ: Last book you gave as a present?

TC: Bible Thumper to Atheist
by Tom Crawford.

TPQ: Book you would most like to see turned into a movie?

TC: None that I can think of. I don’t watch movies.

  1. At some point I intend to read Tom's book, Bible Thumper To Atheist. I loved discussing the topic with him on Facebook where he would rattle the faithful with his wit and scepticism.
I would recommend Bart Ehrman to anyone with an interest in the historical Jesus and the context in which the divine Jesus was created. Michael Nugent also draws on Ehrman for his work.
Unlike Tom, I read a lot of fiction. Maybe given all the fiction he read in the bible as a young man, he just switched off.
Tom lived his life and left people like me something to remember him by.
He probably would have loved the Roman inscription on grave stones.

    I care not
