Atlantic ✒ Three particular failures secure Trump’s status as the worst chief executive ever to hold the office.

Tim Naftali

President Donald Trump has long exulted in superlatives. The first. The best. The most. The greatest. “No president has ever done what I’ve done,” he boasts. “No president has ever even come close,” he says. But as his four years in office draw to an end, there’s only one title to which he can lay claim: Donald Trump is the worst president America has ever had.

In December 2019, he became the third president to be impeached. Last week, Trump entered a category all his own, becoming the first president to be impeached twice. But impeachment, which depends in part on the makeup of Congress, is not the most objective standard. What does being the worst president actually mean? And is there even any value, at the bitter end of a bad presidency, in spending energy on judging a pageant of failed presidencies?

... Trump was a serial violator of his oath—as evidenced by his continual use of his office for personal financial gain—but focusing on three crucial ways in which he betrayed it helps clarify his singular historical status.

  1. So Trump was a scoundrel who suggested if you were rich you could grab women by the pussy. Off with his head... or perhaps NOT just yet, when we look at Kamala Harris, a Black 29 year old wanabee who dated a 60 year old married man with 'attractive' political connections. She was given a number of well paid positions due to this 'connection' PUN INTENDED. She as a prosecutor oversaw sex offence cases and later would leave innocent people in prison regardless of new (scientific no less) evidence showing their innocence in order to maintain her successful prosecution record. That is one woman who may have been more than happy to be grabbed by the 'whatever' as long as it furthered her own personal agenda. Harvey of Hollywood fame realised this connection between wealth, opportunity and female willingness to please (money - female viagra) Until that is they were outed and exposed as rather than satisfying Brad Pitt or George Clooney, they had been pleasuring the Elephant Man to get 'ahead'... That simply wasn't sufferable, so they collectively played the victim card. (more female Viagra in compensation awaited for the countless willing victims).Trump wasn't perfect by any means but he presented the first chink in the swamp armor. Now we know from this scamdemic and election counts being stopped and ballots flown in just how deep the swamp is. Epstien's buddies are back in the White House and wars will be the norm again. People refuse to see the wood for the trees. But a friend here hated Trump not for his flaws, but because IT and Pharma jobs may have been relocated back to USA. His girlfriend works for an IT company now from home instead of spending 1300 a month on rent in Dublin. They love Covid and lock downs and hate Trump. But at least they are honest. Biden ain't no lily white either. His Irish angle wont blind me.

"Epstein's buddies are back in the White House and wars will be the norm again."

So Q-Anon is the latest flavour of the month for you? Donald Trump did his best to start wars or at least pour petrol on existing conflicts by moving the US Israeli Embassy to Jerusalem at the behest of the evangelical and West Bank settler lobbies; withdrawing from the Iran nuclear treaty and in his last days in office designating Houthis in Yemen as terrorists (I am no fan either) thereby risking humanitarian aid to those caught up in that dreadful conflict.

Avoiding wars is one thing; cruelly abandoning one's allies as with the Syrian Kurds by withdrawing from the campaign against ISIS without declaring victory is quite another thing. As is not responding to Putin's encouragement of the Taliban to attack US forces in Afghanistan

    "Now we know from this
and election counts being stopped and ballots flown in just how deep the swamp is"

Like the way Sinn Fein serially stole thousands of votes in elections in NI. Like the multiple votes for business owners in pre-1968 NI. Like Trump's attempt to coerce electoral officers in Georgia to find those "missing" 12,000 plus votes. Like the serial acts of voter suppression by Republican authorities in Southern states. Like Trump's use of Cambridge Analytica's illegally harvested Facebook data to racially profile his potential voter base.

You degrade your own intelligence by parroting Trump's lies about mail-in ballots. Counts were stopped once the same day ballots had been counted so that postal votes necessitated by the pandemic could be counted. You know that not one single judicial, state or federal authority has found any evidence of untoward behaviour. Unless you live in the universe of alternative facts that is.

Nobody is perfect but Joe Biden has a well of humanity and empathy from his experiences of multiple bereavement. Two qualities that could never exist in the milieu of a debased individual who quite apart from playing up to every conceivable form of hate speech and bigotry, struck the family of his late alcoholic brother from his estate.

A repellent excuse of a human being who hopefully will end his days in a penitentiary. American courts take a very dim view of white colour crime, you know.

And you will have to do better than persuade me to believe the veracity of a homophobic, Alt-Right Christian site.

  4. I meant white collar crime. Sorry for the typo.

  5. Barry you just cite totally nonsensical comparisons in response to my points.

So Sinn Fein and unionist electoral previous practices of personation is somehow justification for a rigged USA election? Really. The fact the election count was halted then rigged is quite clear for all to see. There are those happy with it and those unhappy with it. But the USA is exceptional only on it's hypocrisy.

Or trump not confronting Putin for supporting the Taliban is somehow a rejection of Trump's position on getting out of Afghanistan. Trump called Iraq out for what it was.

He also wanted American troops and American factories brought back home. I don't get your logic in how you attempt to connect things. He wanted out of these wars and troops and jobs brought home.

Biden is already on Israel's side so why did you ever expect anything different there? As I have stated it's not about Trump and his many imperfections, it's about the swamp.

Keep taking the opiods Barry and get your prayer mat out 5 times a day and pray facing your TV with the BBC covid updates blasting out. It's WW2 all over again. Fight the virus.

    1. Larry - sixty courts including those presided over by Trump's hand picked judges rejected the legal submissions on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence to even make it to a hearing. Too many Republicans don't believe the election was rigged. Two votes registered in the name of dead people in Georgia, I believe. That was a far cry off 7 million.

The SWAMP is not only Democrats. The SWAMP is all those self serving, bought and paid for reptiles who have been on Capitol Hill since Adam and Eve were fucking around in the Garden of Eden. I am just back from Specsavers, I strongly recommend you pay them a visit.

I don't reject peoples politics or views out of hand or because of the platform the views are aired in. Not even your drivel. I read it if it catches my interest and then form my own judgement.

  8. MSM is a source of valuable information if we take a critical approach to filtering it. MLH is just something we find funny and don't take seriously.
