No wonder the CIA tried to stop it being aired and that's not the usual bullshit which comes with conspiracy theories.
The series blows the lid off the 1985 kidnapping, torture and murder of the DEA's best agent, Kiki Camarena and the helicopter pilot who helped him locate a massive marijuana plantation run by Rafael Caro Quintero.
It includes powerful interviews with the DEA agent, Hector Berrellez, who was assigned to lead the investigation into Camarena's murder and who discovered the shocking truth which led to an early retirement and a warning to keep his mouth shut.
Camarena's widow is also interviewed as are three corrupt Jalisco State policemen who acted as bodyguards to the cartel leaders and were present throughout the planning, kidnapping and murder of the agent. One of these former cops has clearly lost his mind because of what he has been involved in. At one point he is actually shooing away the ghost of Camarena.
During his investigation Hector Berrellez uncovered a lot more than he expected. Not only were high-ranking Mexican government officials present at Camarena's barbaric torture but he had been interrogated by a named member of the CIA who is living in Miami Florida.
It seems that the CIA were extremely worried about what the DEA agent had discovered regarding the training, by the U.S. of Nicaraguan rebels on a ranch owned by a drug lord.
Not only that, Kiki Camarena was betrayed by colleagues in the DEA, one even pointed him out to his abductors. His supervisor helped get the doctor, who kept Kiki conscious during his torture, off in an American court before the so called doctor returned to a hero's welcome in Mexico.
The CIA interrogator and the DEA officials who were involved in the torture and murder of Camarena and the pilot should be on trial fighting for their lives...
