Frankie Quinn with a poem from his book Open Gates.

Summer

Odours of the tarmac path

Hang still in humid air

Chewing gum tasted

For the second time around

♜ ♞

Hazy waves crawl sideways

Along a blurred horizon

swaying along

On the melting road.

♜ ♞

Was it always like this?
