• Direct Democracy Ireland proud to announce the official sponsorship for the Welcome Youth Football Club 2015-16

Direct Democracy Ireland this week officially announced they are the proud sponsors of The Welcome Youth Football Club in Drogheda Co.Louth for 2015-16. The Welcome Youth Football Club is a community development training incentive and we a very proud to be part of it stated Anthony Connor General Secretary of Direct Democracy Ireland. The very ethos of Direct Democracy is Community based and we welcome the initiative shown here by the WYFC committee.

WYFC is a club dedicated to social inclusion and the very nature of involvement and participation in sport for those with fewer opportunities. It is a club run by people who understand what it is like to feel left out due to social or financial difficulties. WYFC encourages the involvement of parents and children to create a club for each other so that everyone has an opportunity to get involved. The WYFC Committee consists of a dedicated group of parents and volunteers committed to providing opportunities in sport for children in their local community.

And Direct Democracy Ireland applaud all the WYFC volunteers who give a little back to their communities, while WYFC is a football club, it is more concerned with fostering community development and the well-being of its members by creating a safe environment for children and parents to participate socially as well as physically, rather than concentrate on competitive football.

Direct Democracy Ireland Leader Pat Greene said:

That the WYFC should be very proud of themselves and their tireless work, the achievements to date can been seen on the face of every child in attendance and Direct Democracy Ireland look forward to forging a long and lasting relationship with everyone involved for many years to come.

The club caters for children aged 4-9 years and new members are always welcome. They meet every Wed evening at 6pm-7pm at the Drogheda Amateur Boxing club in Moneymore. Direct Democracy Ireland President who attended the WYFC official launch on Sat 23rd May in Drogheda stated:

We need more clubs like this across the country and the WYFC should be very proud of the work they have done I’m very impressed with the community spirit and the willingness of others to drive that spirit.

Direct Democracy Ireland would like to thank Drogheda Amateur Boxing Club, DIFE, and Louth Municipal Council for the support they have shown WYFC, also Michael O’Dowd, Darius Kierans, Imelda Munster and Mayor Kevin Callan, and last but not least the WYFC Committee who have put so much work into this amazing project.

Your success is down to hard work and Direct Democracy Ireland Thanks you all.
