‘Twitter Storm’ Planned To Mark Republic Day

A Twitter storm is planned for later today by the 1916 Societies.

Dublin 1916 Societies are planning a ‘Twitter Storm’ to honour the men and women of 1916.
What then is a Twitter Storm some might ask? Simply, what happens is that on a specified date and time people ‘Tweet’ a ‘Hashtag’ to the social media forum Twitter, in the hope that with enough support it ‘Trends’ on Twitter itself for everyone to see.

What they’re asking people to do is tweet the hashtag #IrelandRemembers tomorrow, Friday April 24th, at 12.30pm – exactly 99 years from when Pádraig Pearse stood outside the GPO and read aloud the Proclamation.

April 24th is Republic Day so the hope is if people post pictures to Twitter, relevant to the occasion in question where possible – accompanied of course by the hashtag #IrelandRemembers – people all over Ireland might become more aware of the significance of the day itself.
