Dee Fennell with an announcement about Sundays' upcoming anti-internment march. Dee Fennell is a republican and community activist in North Belfast.
I
am pleased to confirm the speakers for this year's National Anti-Internment
March, organised by the Anti-Internment League.
Our Main Speaker will be Belfast Activist Brenda Downes. Brenda is well known throughout the country as a Republican, Human Rights and Community Activist. This year will mark the 30th Anniversary of her husband John, who was murdered by the RUC with a lethal plastic bullet as he attended an Anti Internment Rally on 12th August 1984, outside Connolly House which is adjacent to this year's march destination at the Busy Bee. Brenda's contribution will be focussed on State Oppression and the need to organise effectively to combat this within our communities.

Also
speaking will be Justice Watch Ireland's Packy Carty who will speak
on behalf of the Justice for the Craigavon Two Campaign. Packy worked very
closely with the late Gerry
Conlon in order to highlight the miscarriage of justice
that has wrongfully condemned Brendan McConville and John Paul Wootton to
decades in prison, and continues to be at the forefront of their campaign to
overturn their convictions.
In
addition, we will have Palestinian representative Dr Hassan Nowarah, who will
update people on "administrative detention" being implemented by the
Zionist regime attacking Palestine. Thousands of Palestinians have been taken
hostage using this policy, with no trial and/or release date. This will add an
international aspect to proceedings that is particularly relevant at present as
Gaza is attacked by a terrorist "state".
