What I don't understand is why people want the murals painted over...Wether somepeople like it or not it's part of history (they depict historical events..(goes for both sides...) not to mention some are very good art forms...
Unless( reason for wanting them painted over) is some form of revisonism...

Talking about walls and whats on them ,having just returned from the Leitrim hills,where the only shit to be found is the genuine stuff,I had to tell all here about an article in the nothern edition of the Sunday World well worth a read pg 16;heading MURAL MURDER..A huge mural dedicated to women in struggle and commerating famous IRA women such as Mairead Farrell and psf vice president Maire Drumm was removed by psf and replaced with a huge mural depicting uncle Sam saying "LANDLORDS WE NEED YOU" this was an add for Northern Property Agency.this insult was futher aggravated by the fact that it was placed on top of a mural dedicated to James Connolly and the cause of labour,these murals on the corner of Rockmount st are a futher indication on how low psf have stooped,our Nuala says in the article "this shows what west Belfast has become,its all about money and nothing about republicanism or socialism now,the last thing we need now is more land lords" well said Nuala hon but as you well know psf is now a party of landlords among other things,the story has a happy ending however, the offending mural was paint-bombeb and has now been removed (pity we didnt have a load of SMH,s boke) we really are witnessing some serious revisionism going on here and I suspect its only the begining

Who gave permission for this to happen? Surely the new muralists had to ask somebody for approval. Who cleared the removal of a mural depicting republican activists who gave their all to make space for the new one?
Anthony the old mural was detachable apparently and was taking down by psf, now a cara I wonder how that mural was taken down to be replaced by the uncle Sam one and I,ll bet my life on it psf gave to nod and yer man from the estate agency gave something to.yes I totally agree Nuala and Padraic Mc Cotter have to be commended for speaking up on this and other issues, its a sure sign psf are not in control as much as they would like to think .
