  3. The wild geese had to leave for political reasons now a lot of our people have to leave because of stupid politician reasons

our youth to be transported away
again- even with better communications like the internet
people [ a person ] are still missed,

just looked up the wild geese on google-
    in a 100 year period after 1691
the french army would include an
IRISH brigade and in that century more than half a million IRISH men
died in the service of france

thats a huge number but such was the ferocity of the wild geese on
the battle field that king george 11 said " cursed be the laws which deprive me of such subjects "
[ penal laws ] englsh fcuk.

  5. It's a sad state when a country has to loose it's own people to survive. I speak with some experience as I was on one of those planes a few years back. Though did the north every really benefit from the celtic tiger? I'd say there'd be plenty saying it's done nothing for the south either now.

  6. Martdownunder, wish they would transport some of our youth out, hardly a brain drain. Is Botany Bay still in operation?

  7. Fionnuala, they're already coming over in the thousands, most won't be able to stay though, its got very strict now I was lucky to get in when i did. The US isn't an option as they've just about closed the doors. Hear Canada is the most likely destination for many

  8. MartyDownUnder,
If you get any from West Belfast hide, there will be bush fires everyday, Guantanamo Bay would be a more deserving destination.

  11. 5000 yrs ago moses said to the people of israel, "pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, i will lead you to the promissed land".

10 yrs ago bertie ahern said incresed social welfare and said,"lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, light up a camel, this IS the promissed land!".

Today brian cowan stole our shovels, taxed our asses, raised the price of camels, and SOLD the promised land....

  15. Saint?MaryHedgehog,
I genuinely was not trying to be flippant about Botany Bay. For many people here in the West of Belfast it would actually be preferable to have our local hoods transported out there, than walking about free agents here. For many people in West Belfast, our new Ireland, is watching hoods skidding in cars, watching gangs of thugs roaming the streets, fear that confrontation could end up in a person being beaten or stabbed.
People have no idea of the real legacy we have been left with.

  16. Nuala,

one of the first things to strike me after I got out was an encounter in the Lower Ormeau Road. It was not long after the attack on the bookies where many lost their lives. A guy said to me he wished the UFF would drive by and riddle all the hoods who stood outside the bookies. They were hated more than the cops. I found that throughout my time in the movement in Belfast, people felt more tormented by hoods than they did by the cops or Brits.
