Friendly Atheist ★ The televangelist claims an "inter-dimensional device" stole her eggs for decades. Don't bother looking for evidence.

Ask any author you know what it’s like to promote a new book, and you’ll inevitably hear stories about how tough it is to break through all the chaos of the news. You’ll try anything to get people to pay attention to your book during that short period of time around when it’s published, but unless you’re already famous or have great connections, it’s rough.

In the case of convicted criminal-turned-Christian evangelist Katie Souza, she has a brilliant marketing plan to convince the most ignorant religious people to buy her new book about how aliens are engaged in “spiritual warfare ministry”: Just tell everyone that aliens stole her eggs in order to create half-alien-half-human hybrids.

Just as the Bible foretold.

I was visited when I was a young girl and… aliens… alien beings implanted an inter-dimensional device in me that harvested my eggs over my lifetime. ‘Cause eggs—you get hundreds of thousands of eggs when… you’re born with hundreds of thousands of eggs if you’re a female. But they don’t mature until you ovulate . . .

Shane Vaughn Makes Up Details About Correspondents' Dinner Attack

There are few MAGA activists as blindly committed to President Donald Trump as admitted "cult follower" pastor Shane Vaughn, who insists that Trump was raised up by God to become king of America.

It was no surprise then that Vaughn was distraught over the attack at last weekend's White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in which a gunman attempted to break through security with the intention of assassinating Trump and other top government officials.

Vaughn was apparently so distraught that it seems he couldn't even bring himself to learn what actually happened and decided instead to just make up a story about God performing a "bona fide miracle" to save Trump.

"All of our leadership was sitting ducks in a closed-in room," Vaughn said during a recent broadcast.

All someone had to do was stand up, grab their rifle, and literally, pow, pow, pow, and the entire leadership of our nation would be killed in one sitting.

After providing some details about the suspect, Cole Allen, Vaughn then marveled at the supposed "miracle" that saved Trump's life.

A Bona Fide Miracle?

Friendly Atheist ðŸ§ª Blair and Taylor Edwards, two Christian parents who let their sick newborn baby die because they didn’t want to call a doctor, were just sentenced to 30 days in jail.

The light punishment comes with a promise to seek out professional medical care for their three other children and a plea to members of their Christian anti-medicine cult to do the same.

The tragic story began on June 24, 2023, when Taylor gave birth to her son Hayden at home. Everything was fine until the morning of June 26, when Hayden stopped eating. His lips turned blue. Hours later, he stopped breathing, only to start again after his mother poured cold water on him. 30 minutes later, he was dead.

At no point in those five hours did the parents call doctors for help. Instead, they invited over family and friends to “pray and anoint the sick baby” with oil.

That’s because all these people belong to the Followers of Christ Church in Oregon, whose members are told prayers fix everything and medical interventions for children are unnecessary. Since 2011, when Oregon’s legislature finally removed “faith healing” as a legal defense for murder, three other couples from the same church have been prosecuted for killing their own kids.

Right Wing Watch 👀 Is Trump Really Going to Meet With Lizard Mafia/Goblin Masters ‘Prophet’ Joseph Z?

Kyle Mantyla

Last month, a self-proclaimed prophet who goes by the name Joseph Z appeared on the Christian nationalist program “FlashPoint” to warn that “the spirit of antichrist” had led Vice President Kamala Harris to choose Minnesota Gov.

Tim Walz as her running mate because Walz “fit right in with the wicked overlord lizard mafia that is really driven by their goblin masters.”

Despite the antisemitic and downright bizarre nature of his statement, Joseph Z’s profile has recently been on the rise among the far-right Charismatic Christian community, securing him a program on the Daystar Christian television network and now, apparently, establishing a connection to the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.

During a livestream broadcast on Sunday, Joseph Z cryptically reported that a meeting with Trump had been arranged.

Without going into it, I just got an invitation from another wonderful brother to meet with some of the well, I won’t label it right now but you read between the lines . . . We’re going to probably go meet with the main party running right now, and I believe the Lord has a word for us to be present in some of these places.

Right Wing Watch 👀 When it comes to promoting the Big Lie that former President Donald Trump won the 2020 election only to have the presidency stolen away from him, few can match the dedication shown by right-wing pastor and
conspiracy theorist Hank Kunneman.

Kyle Mantyla

Kunneman, of course, has a vested interest in promoting this lie since, as a self-proclaimed “prophet,” he repeatedly guaranteed that not only would Trump be reelected in 2020, but that Vice President Mike Pence would be elected president in 2024.

The former didn’t happen and the latter is obviously not going to happen, but Kunneman has petulantly refused to apologize for his false prophecies or even admit that Biden is president, instead promising that God will reward those who stand with him while attacking those who have dared to criticize him.

Over and over and over again, Kunneman has insisted that the 2020 election was stolen, so it was something of a surprise to hear him call on Christians to pray and fast against supposedly forthcoming efforts by Democrats to assert that the 2024 election was stolen.

Only Sky ✏ If reality could rein in some of these zealots, the Rapture would never have become a belief in the first place.

Captain Cassidy

Last week, a bunch of right-wing Christians were hoping they’d finally get to see the Rapture they think their god promised his followers.

It didn’t happen. But don’t worry! They are guaranteed not to learn a thing from this latest in a long, long, long, longlonglong line of disappointments. For those who really want to see it happen, Rapture beliefs just hit the sweet spot of conspiracy theories, dysfunctional authoritarian behavior, and unwarranted self-importance.

How you know someone’s done time in fundagelicalism

Not long ago and out of the blue, I asked my husband if he knew when Israel became a state. He had no idea. “When, then?” he asked.

“In 1948,” I replied without any hesitation.

I’m not an expert in geopolitics or anything like that. If you asked me when any other country’s statehood began, I would likely not know. I just used to be Pentecostal back in the 1980s and 1990s. And the one year that every single Pentecostal knew back then was that one.

Rapture Rapture Everywhere 🔴And Not An Empty Pile Of Clothes To Be Found

Alternet ✏ Americans in past generations lived in a sea of religion inherited largely from the Middle East by way of Europe, with home grown refinements.

Valerie Tarico
Most still do. When Americans venture off the continent, one of the things many find fascinating is the religious beliefs they encounter. Some people worship flying monkeys, or magical big breasted dancers, or Prince Phillip.

From the outside, beliefs like these seem fantastical and unlikely. They played a key role in evoking such ethnocentric ideas as noblesse oblige and manifest destiny and white man’s burden. But if we could see our own culture from an outside vantage point, as if we were travelers, the world might look a little different. Even one of the Bible writers pointed out that self-examination is the first order of business. Why are you looking at the speck in your brother’s eye, he asked (to paraphrase), when you have a plank in your own?

So, how well do you know what your neighbors believe? How about the church to which your parents are quietly tithing away your inheritance? For that matter, how about the actual details of the creed to which you yourself give a nod?
