. . . it will be the British, the Yanks, the EU, the powerful and wealthy minority, along with the ruling class i mBaile Atha Cliath, who will 'grant'....yes, grant you.... a "United Ireland" ; that is, if and when, They decide to do so. Just as they granted their version of a 26 counties Statelet, in 1922.
On the subject of 'having or not having, an alternative'. First, a 30 year war was fought by men and women who were killed and went to jails. That war was fought for an end to British occupation and equally, a 32 County Socialist Republic. Article 3.2 of the Army Constitution is clear on this. That is what the majority, the poor and working poor, in Ireland, will benefit from.
Secondly, we have 850 odd years of colonialism, 300 hundred years of that, has been under capitalist and bourgeois parliaments. As Connolly said '..parliaments are but the committees of the rich, to manage their affairs… '. And we know, that capitalism and their parliaments, have failed the majority, working class. Pursuing a failed, now 300 year-old tactic, of trying to make capitalism do our biding, is illogical?
You can advance all the legislation you want in their parliaments. They will just change the rules or ignore the outcomes. However, as Lenin carried it out; and, as Engels and Connolly pointed out, people incorrectly, perceive power to be in their parliaments, so, we must use the platform of being in them…and/or the local Councils, to tactically prosecute our struggle, in a strictly Revolutionary way. We are not there to promote bourgeois parliaments or capitalism, we are there to end and replace it all.
A Socialist Republican, alternative starts from the position of a 32 County Socialist Republic. Sinn Fein’s “strategy” does not.
Want to build for a Socialist/workers Republic. A Socialist Republic that has to be built from the 'bottom up' Not from the 'top down'. A democracy, Not to be derailed or co-opted by capitalism, imperialism or their parliaments.
A 'people powered decentralised democracy' built in every region in Éireann. Local, people's community councils. An alternative and parallel, people's power base. Not politicians 'acting out Democracy' within the rules of the capitalist parliaments.
A brilliant opportunity to do just that was squandered, when we had the 'H-Block/Armagh' Committees network. But someone, somewhere, decided to abolish them. Why I wonder?
What has Sinn Fein done to promote, amongst the working class, the concept of a 'people powered participatory democracy'? If Sinn Fein had championed this, even as late as 1998, we would be a long way down the road to having a Revolutionary, people powered, political force.
It is dangerously delusional to think that a 32 County Socialist Republic can be achieved, via the charade of politicking in bourgeois parliaments. And l think Sinn Fein know that as well as l do.

If by some quirk any bourgeois parliament, including Dail Eirean, set out on the road to socialism the national bourgeoisie would close such policies down. I site Chili in 1973 and the murder of the elected Marxist, Salvador Allendie by the forces of reaction led by Thatchers mate, Augusto Pinochet. The Irish bourgeoisie if needed, like the British, German, French, would do the same thing if all else failed. This is why a revolutionary armed force of the proletariat, similar to James Connolly and the Irish Citizen Army, is needed.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with entering these bourgeois parliaments with a view to "tactically pursuing our struggle" is the conveyer only travells in one direction, to the right. I understand the tactic but if it is used, and used correctly for a single purpose, it must be disciplined and knowing the time to leave, or not, would be essential. The so-called revolutionaries of the Socialist Workers Party spent years telling us why there is "no parliamentary road to socialism" and using the entryist strategy are now firmly installed in Dail Eireann under People Before Profit. Although they are the most sincere of those in the Dail the language of today falls short of revolution.
I doubt many have faith in a revolutionary armed force of the proletariat. It seems one of the least appealing ideas out there. Apart from yourself I don't see anybody else advocating it. How does an armed force of the proletariat tackle global warming?
DeleteThe Left needs to take every position it can in the war of position, including parliaments, until it accumulates more power than those who oppose them. Strategise rather than sloganise should be the task of the left if it is to make even small steps forward.
Bleak times in which we live.
Anthony, it is my view the revolutionary Marxist "left" could accumulate all the power under the sun using votes as the indicator, the bourgeoisie will never relinquish power. This democracy thing, liberal democracy, is only viable to the capitalist class until it no longer works for them. Then they, in all probability, will produce their insurance against socialism, that being fascism or the 'white terror'. This is one reason the powers that be take a mild line on the far-right protectors who are pro business and a hard line on socialists who are not. The armed wing is not popular I agree, but ideas change in struggle. How else are we going to defend ourselves?
ReplyDeleteAs for global warming, accelerated by profit motives under capitalism and all that goes with it, troposphere damage, all we can do, under socialism, is prevent things deteriorating any further, I hope!
Caoimhin, there is no moral or strategic justification for any armed group in Ireland or in any liberal democracy.
DeleteAnthony/Caoimhin -----Have either of you stopped an thought about the "Lefties/Marxist's" who think the whole Climate Change debate is a scam...In the same way Bat Flu was????
ReplyDeleteI have but given that over 99% of climate scientists believe the Lefties/Marxists are a scam, I'm going with the science.
DeleteFrankie, having suffered the effects of climate change in real time with hot winds and inescapable humidity, I just have no toleration for climate change denial in any form. Those who belch carbon dioxide into the atmosphere are as guilty of crimes against humanity as the tobacco industry and the Seckler opioid peddler family
DeleteFrankie, how do you explain the infernos sweeping Southern Europe and the tens of thousands of heat related deaths in France? Climate change deniers can fuck right off
DeleteNo one is arguing about "climate change". It has been changing since long before someone decided to keep records. And if the human race/civilisation is to survive, then we are going to have to leave this rock. Science tells me that in a few billion years' time, the ball of fire in the sky will expand into a red giant, likely making Earth uninhabitable before ending as a white dwarf. We will be fried. Now, if burning some fossil fuel speeds up man going further than James Kirk, I will vote for that.
ReplyDeleteFrankie, can you explain what you mean by the "climate change scam."? Do you believe that renewable sources of energy should replace the fossil fuel polluters? Do you agree with heat insulation of houses?
DeleteBarry,
ReplyDeletecan you explain what you mean by the "climate change scam."?
Its a mafia styled shake down...."If you don't pay your carbon tax or pay to reduce greenhouse gasses"---then bad, horrible things will happen to "you". And all the while the cartels who run the climate change scam are buying beach front houses and islands to spend their summers in while lecturing you, me and a boy named Sue about sea levels rising. They love to talk about the importance of saving the Amazon rain forest, while chopping down the trees in the Amazon to hold a conference on climate change---Recently Jeffery Epstein's friend Billy Boy Gates said "the climate problem isn't as bad as feared and we're going to be ok"--Even the new British PM "Mad Andy" chartered a plane to fly from London to Manchester. Why couldn't he take a coach, train or drive. The list is endless.....
Do you believe that renewable sources of energy should replace the fossil fuel polluters?
I don't care what type of fuels is used to help mankind leave this rock---fossil fuels, renewable's---they're all good.
Do you agree with heat insulation of houses?
I don't care how anyone heats or insulates their home---TBH, I have more important things to think about.
Frankie, do you accept the scientific consensus that attributes the over heating of our planet to just under three centuries of carbon emissions by the fossil fuel industries. Do you actually give a fuck about the millions of victims of over heating, floods and wildfires? Your rant about Bill Gates etc is complete deflection m
DeleteBarry,
ReplyDeletedo you accept the scientific consensus that attributes the over heating of our planet to just under three centuries of carbon emissions by the fossil fuel industries.
No...then again I have done a deep dive on the subject and thats why I can safety call it a Mafia style shake down...
Do you actually give a fuck about the millions of victims of over heating, floods and wildfires?
No, maybe for 30 seconds if I see a news report, then I go about my daily life.
Your rant about Billy Boy Gates etc is complete deflection
Go and check out what Billy Boy Gates said about the climate change debate---and take it up with him....
What do you think about mad Andy's idea of drilling in the North Sea for oil and gas?
Frankie. Andy Burnham has yet to take a decision on North Sea drilling. It is my hope that he does not go ahead with it, not least because it will create the sum total of 27 jobs. Will you be rejecting Darwin 's theory of evolution and Copernican theories of earth rotation as scams next,?
DeleteBarry, I don't know how you do it - forever trying to reason with the unreasonable?
DeleteBarry - it will hardly come as a surprise to you that both the anti-evolution line and the climate sceptic lines have been pushed by David Icke - probably one of the greatest scammers in modern history. He tried to con people into thinking he was God
DeleteBarry,
ReplyDeleteAndy Burnham has yet to take a decision on North Sea drilling. It is my hope that he does not go ahead with it, not least because it will create the sum total of 27 jobs.
Mad Andy doesn't care about how many jobs will be created when he gives the go a head to drill in the North Sea---In the same way he doesn't care about floating the idea of taxing people 10% of their wealth when they die--Your BLP is all about money not people.
Will you be rejecting Darwin 's theory of evolution
I have no time for peoples theories when they are into incest and pedophilia---Darwin was into both. On evolution, I'm split 40/60---40% of me thinks humans are a freak of nature. 60% of me thinks an advanced life form paid this rock a visit and tweaked monkey DNA until they got a species that worked for them--(thats why there are various forms of humanoid fossils)
and Copernican theories of earth rotation as scams next,?
I personally think this rock is flatter than most freely admit incase they get laughed at. I have written about it on TPQ ...here and the second has yet to be published...
Frankie, where and what is your evidence that Darwin was into paedophilia and incest?
DeleteChristy,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? Barry keeps asking me the same type of questions, I give him my views and answer honestly.....
To me it seems Barry is is asking the same questions and hoping for a different response----isn't that what someone once called the definition of madness?
An example concerning yourself questioning my views--- a year or three ago, I put up the contents of Happy Hunters laptop, that the FBI said was real----yet you called it a conspiracy theory----I link everything and let the world decide---maybe you should open my links and then judge me....
Frankie, a good definition of madness is denial of objective reality such as climate change and the contribution of fossil fuels to it.
DeleteBarry,
ReplyDeleteHave been living with excess heat in the four fossil fuelled heatwaves that have occurred over here in the last month.
Then look for the positives. Just think of all the free Vit D you are getting from the sun, and the money you and millions of others are saving the NHS by not asking your GPs for Vit D pills. The excess heat probably makes you sweat a bit more and hopefully it naturally cleans your skin (another plus). And if you get a really good sun tan, you could go undercover and call yourself "Abdul" and find out what the local legal and illegal immigrants have to put with, how many are thinking about a Jihad, etc. (just an idea).
Frankie, a good definition of madness is denial of objective reality such as climate change and the contribution of fossil fuels to it.
That a Maurice Strong argument. And when you look at Strong's argument, you'll discover it isn't strong but wank, weak, woke and vegan...
Frankie, where and what is your evidence that Darwin was into paedophilia and incest?
Read this document--here, and you will learn why the Darwins were called the 'Darwoods'..
Have been living with excess heat in the four fossil fuelled heatwaves that have occurred over here in the last month.
The reason you are going through your fourth heat wave is simply down to a Super El Niño. Not fossil fuel. Another event that happens every few centuries is the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, --AMOC. And when you have a Super El Niño and it doves tails when AMOC is peaking--Greenland loses a lot of it's ice and plunges Northern Europe/Parts of North America into a new mini ice age. Sky News recently had a report on it.
Frankie, I suppose you will be denying the links between tobacco consumption and lung cancer ot those between Ultra Processed Foods and Type II diabetes and heart disease next.. El Nino is a contributory factor to heat waves but all the scientific evidence points to excess carbon emissions from Big Oil, Big Gas and King Coal. Thought you would have something to say about these behemoths like you do about Big Pharma and Big Tech.
DeleteI remember in the 80s they said oil was going to run out, then they said by 2000 we'd have acid rain making life impossible. Both failed to materialise.
ReplyDeleteDroughts and famines, known since before the industrial revolution, are far more dangerous than warming. Look at the Rhine. Large scale desalination plants are going to be the standard.
Trying to 'stop' fossil fuels is retarded. Modern society is firmly built on a hydrocarbon economy. Mitigation is the only sensible course of action.
Steve, there is a scientific consensus that the wildfires consuming Mediterranean countries and England and the record droughts which are threatening food supply are driven by carbon emissions post Industrial Revolution. The future lied in renewable energy sources.
DeleteNuclear is an obvious solution - clean and inexhaustible. It can also be a wedge for a range of other problems to make their way in and if unleashed could prove as great an existential threat as climate change.
DeleteBarry,
ReplyDeleteI suppose you will be denying the links between tobacco consumption and lung cancer
No but I also think it is genetic...I can only speak from observing people who smoke within my own family/circle of friends---An example---My daddy smoked most of his life and didn't die from lung cancer (in fact his lungs were normal for a man of 84 ,age he died). My Grandparents the same---My mummy, she lived with 2nd hand smoke, most of my siblings smoked at some stage--Her lungs aren't affected by 2nd hand smoke. Personally my lungs are probably fucked, but I'm a smokers smoker.
or those between Ultra Processed Foods and Type II diabetes and heart disease next..
I haven't done a deep dive into that , but my limited reading tells me, I eat better than Gen Z---then again I real food and not pre packaged crap. I can peel potatoes, I can bake bread, I know I get a better deal from my butcher than super market meat....
El Nino is a contributory factor to heat waves but all the scientific evidence points to excess carbon emissions from Big Oil, Big Gas and King Coal.
Let's look back over the past 2,000 years---
The Roman Warm Period (about 250 BC to AD 400).
The Dark Ages Cold Period (about AD 400 to 800).
The Medieval Warm Period (about AD 950 to 1250).
The Little Ice Age (about AD 1300 to 1850).
And tell me how much fossil fuel burning played a part....All the science books, papers and documentaries I have read/seen all tell me the periods i mentioned are down to natural climate change, not fossil fuels....If you have evidence to disprove science---link your sources.
Thought you would have something to say about these behemoths like you do about Big Pharma and Big Tech.
I could but why???? All I will say is there are plenty of places on this rock where people are dying because they can't access clean drinking water and 'Big Tech' want to build 'Data Centres' to cool their AI machines with clean fresh drinking water.
The thing that is fcuking this rock up is the natural resources are being spread out equally.
The thing that is fcuking this rock up is the natural resources aren't being spread out equally.---sorry for typo
