Socialism or Ultra-Liberalism? The Left’s Defining Choice
The entire trans debate is coming to a head, and the left is fracturing along predictable lines. The Girl Guides have reversed their 2017 policy and banned males who identify as women from their ranks. The Women’s Institute, which has welcomed women since the 1970s, has followed suit. Meanwhile, Your Party, the newly formed outfit claiming to be a socialist alternative, has overwhelmingly voted to enshrine “trans liberation” in its founding documents. These demands, backed enthusiastically by Zarah Sultana, come from the Trans Liberation Group, an extremist faction that wants to defy the Supreme Court, unwind women’s rights, and rewrite the Equality Act itself.
Here is what you are left with: socialism or ultra-liberalism. You cannot have both.
Let us be clear about what the Supreme Court actually ruled. In April 2025, the UK’s highest court delivered a unanimous judgment in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers. It confirmed what most people already knew: that “sex” in the Equality Act 2010 means biological sex. A woman is an adult human female. A man is an adult human male. A Gender Recognition Certificate does not change this legal reality.

Continue @ Labour Heartlands.

I think there is more going on than just a middle-class lobby capturing institutions. I think the current trans-gender debate could possibly be a way of "priming" people in order to soften any response and lay down a framework for future trans-human acceptance, which may actually not be that far away in the future. If the cat is not among the pigeons already, it certainly would be then.

DeleteThe Woke pretend that its origins are in the words of the singer Leadbelly circa 1938 when it seems they can be traced to Calvin's Geneva in the 1500s where cancel culture and the call to wake up was how the Calvinists tightened their grip on society, both silencing and labelling heretical those of a different persuasion. Same thing today as the article points out.
Few of us give a toss how people want to live their lives, and defend their right to do so but once they try to subvert science in the same manner that Young Earth Creationists do, then it is time to put in the blocking tackle. They have even taken to cancelling leading biologists for stating that sex is binary and that biology cannot be changed by ideology.
Even if that is an opinion that some might not share the fascistic instinct to use cancel culture is odious. It seems diversity, equality, inclusion only applies to those who agree with the Woke: a diverse idea is to be denied equality status in the world of opinion and must not be included in public discourse.
To the best of my knowledge, Zarah Sultana is not trans so why is she choosing trans rights as a hill to die on?
