Caoimhin O’Muraile ☭ On Friday 28th February 2025 I watched the most bizarre scene of bourgeois politics I think I’ve ever seen.

The representatives of the global bourgeoisie are habitual liars to the working-classes of the globe and constantly show themselves for the goons they really are. However, this one took the biscuit. Reflective of the talks or, more to the point, bullying of the Czechoslovakian President, Emil Hacha, on 14th March 1939 the Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy meeting at the White House where a repeat of a historical humiliation of one leader by another was acted out this time on television. Back in 1939 Hitler kept the Czech leader, Hacha, waiting humiliatingly in a cold room in the very early hours of the morning while he, Hitler, laughed and joked about Hacha with his sycophants. When the Fuhrer eventually invited his counterpart (in theory) in for an audience Hitler berated him, terrifying the Czech leader to the point where he collapsed. The scene at the White House played out on television and social media for hundreds of millions to see was certainly a similar scene it must be imagined.

Vice President J.D. Vance repeatedly berated Zelenskyy for not saying words of “appreciation” to the US for supplying over 350 billion dollars in arms to the Ukraine. He constantly made the leader of the Ukrainian bourgeoisie look like a fucking idiot, as well as showing himself up. If anybody can remember the sixties and early seventies show of ridiculous proportions, Monty Pythons Flying Circus, the cast of John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Pallin and Graham Chapman could not have put on a more comical scene. Is this what bourgeois politics has come to, a comedy and a sham? Trump is supposedly the leader of the misleadingly called ‘free world’ (dictatorship of the bourgeoisie) and if this is the ‘free world’ what does the modern ‘unfree world’ look like? Zelenskyy was bombarded from both men, Trump and Vance, and the idea was to make him look a fool in the eyes of the world. Well Donny Boy, you certainly did that as well as showing yourself, and Vance up for the bullies and tyrants you both potentially are, or, given the right circumstances, will become.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, invaded the Ukraine under the guise of preventing that country joining NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) on 24th February 2022. He was also, not totally unfounded, concerned about what he perceived as a neo-Nazi threat in Ukraine. Zelensky, who claims Jewish descent (I’m not sure he’s being totally truthful here), has given Putin ammunition to further the claim that neo-Nazis are active in Ukraine by using the self-confessed Nazi troops of the Azov Regiment, they model themselves on the “Das Reich regiment of the Waffen SS”, their words not my own! On the issue of NATO membership for Ukraine Putin had a point, he does not want NATO weapons on his doorstep with a strike time of under two minutes. At the moment the strike time for NATO to hit Russia is five minutes giving the Russians time to respond. If Ukraine joined NATO this equilibrium would be denied the Russians, there would be no time to respond to a NATO attack. However, if Trump really wanted to take away Putin’s supposed rationale for his invasion of Ukraine all he has to say is; ‘if Ukraine apply to join NATO that application would be refused by the USA’. Although the vote would be among all NATO members, supposedly equal, it is the weight of the US which would carry the day. That is all Trump has to say. The fact is he doesn’t really want to stop the war US arms dealers make too much money manufacturing arms for the Ukraine and Zelenskyy should have been shrewd enough to see through that without offering all his country’s mineral wealth on a salver. Could Trump, to keep the arms dealers happy, start supplying Russia with weapons instead of Ukraine?

Donald Trump then said of Volodymyr Zelenskyy “see the hatred he’s got for Putin, it’s gonna be very difficult to get a deal” referring to Zelenskyy’s hatred of Vladimir Putin. The US President went on to berate the Ukrainian President by telling him; “you don’t have the cards right now with us you’ll start having the cards, you have a damn good chance of coming out of this OK because of us” suggesting this is a game of Poker. Zelenskyy in his own version of a rant, more of a cackle, “we signed him” in 2014 a ceasefire with Putin and then asked the Vice President; “what kind of diplomacy are you talking of” to which J.D Vance said “the kind of diplomacy that’s going to end the destruction of your country. Shouldn’t you thank the President who is trying to save your country? Right now you’re forcing conscripts to the front line because you have manpower problems”. For once the US President and Vice President had more than a point, Ukraine is on its knees but so too is Russia so perhaps diplomacy is the best way forward, the question is; whose diplomacy? Maybe Zelenskyy should read about how Soviet Russia pulled out of the First World War. Hundreds of square versts (an old Russian measurement) of Russian land was surrendered at the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk on 3rd March 1918 after the Russian Revolution ending that country’s participation in the slaughter of what was World War One. Maybe, to stop the killing, and for no other reason, Ukraine should consider relinquishing the eastern provinces now held by Russia.

Trump accused Zelenskyy of “not wanting a ceasefire” and as long as the Europeans and the US supply weapons why should he? He said; “Putin went through a hell of a lot with me, he went through a witch hunt, he went through a hell of a lot”, pointing more than a finger at Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe (I’m Irish) Biden playing with his computer in his “bathroom and bedroom”. That is why Trump perhaps sides with Putin, they’ve both been through, in their eyes, a “witch hunt”! “It’s going to make great television” referring to the meeting, and Trump was probably not wrong!

Zelenskyy was in Washington supposedly to sign a deal effectively giving the US bourgeoisie all their mineral rights in return for guarantees of security against Russia from Trump. These guarantees were and are not forthcoming and all Trump could say on this matter was; “in a way their security is guaranteed because our people will be working there and nobody will attack while the US are working in Ukraine” , hardly a concrete guarantee of security for the former comedian, Zelenskyy, and Trump reckons it’s a “good deal for the Ukraine”!

Vice President, J.D Vance, kept prodding the Ukrainian President with suggestive words, using such phrases amounting to ‘say thank you to the nice President for being so good to you, and don’t be so ungrateful’. If this was Trump being ‘good’ then I’d hate to see the bad! Trump kept reminding Zelenskyy that his soldiers were “very brave” but without the support of the USA the war would have been over within three days in Russia’s favour. At this point Trump laid into Zelenskyy, accusing him of “not wanting peace” and if he’s not careful he “won’t have a country left”, a telling off Hitler would have been proud of almost accusing Zelenskyy of invading Russia, not the other way round! He demanded Zelensky show some gratitude to the “American People” as he ranted and raved about how good the US have been to an ungrateful Ukraine. He then accused the Ukrainian President of doing “a lot of talking” when in reality Zelenskyy could barely get a word in! Zelenskyy asked the Vice President; “how he would feel” to which Trump intervened; “don’t tell us how we would feel” considering the question irrelevant even insulting. The US President then accused the Ukrainian leader of “gambling on World War Three” which, of course, Zelenskyy denied. Donald Trump, whose voice tempo was rising, then accused Zelenskyy of not wanting peace, and that his country would not have lasted more than “two days” without the military aid in weapons of the US. He berated Zelenskyy of “not wanting peace” otherwise he would have accepted the deal offered three years ago. Eventually Zelenskyy plucked up the courage to wipe his arse and leave this farce with no agreement on the minerals which Trump wants free with no security guarantees.

Could the US President do a deal with Putin, perhaps helping the Russian Czar to win the war? In return for this the US and Russia could share the mineral wealth of the Ukraine and Zelenskyy would count for nothing, not dissimilar to Nazi Germany and the USSR carving up Poland in 1939? Could such a scenario happen? If it were to come about, where would it leave NATO as the European members of the alliance, including Britain, would oppose such an outcome, or would they? Would the Europeans have the balls to stand up to US aggression? Or would they come up with some fudge in order to cure favour from the ‘big man’ and his cronies in the Oval Office? Would the British harp on about their so-called “special relationship” with the US? This outcome is purely supposition and may never come about but as we look at the situation anything is possible! Trump said of Zelenskyy’s early departure; he can come back to the White House when he’s ready to “talk peace”. I bet old Volodymyr felt a whole lot better after this encounter with Trump and JD Vance!

I have no time for any of the Brigands involved in the Ukrainian conflict. Putin, I believe, is a very dangerous man who helped bring down the Soviet Union and look at the mess now. Zelenskyy, again in my opinion, is a minion and a fraud who wants to be a major power but has not the resources to be so! If he is, as he says he is, of Jewish extraction then why not ask Israel for help in arms? He has tapped arms off the Europeans and the USA in order to follow his dream of greatness, facilitated greatly in this by Putin’s illegal invasion. Now we have the biggest bandit since Hitler entering the ring, Donald Trump guided by the corporate capitalist hand of Elon Musk. Trump and his sidekick, J.D. Vance, ganged up on Zelenskyy in a political ‘pincer movement’ attacking from both sides simultaneously and purposely shown on global television and social media. Then Trump accused Zelenskyy of having “said a lot” when in actual fact the Ukrainian leader was cut short by these two bullies every-time he attempted to defend his position. Trump then had a go at his predecessors, Biden and Obama, particularly Biden, for supplying arms to Ukraine against Russia receiving nothing in return claiming they were “stupid”

Would Donald Trump have spoken to Vladimir Putin in the same humiliating way? No, I doubt that very much, the two are, so far, buddies in US lingo. In fact this charade may well have been put on for Putin’s entertainment, the humiliation of the ‘little man’ a former comedian from Ukraine who tries to play with the big boys. Could this have been for, primarily, Putin’s entertainment? What Trump and Vance have managed to do, apart from making Zelenskyy look a little silly, is show the direction the world can expect in the way US bourgeois politics are heading. Perhaps a little bit of Trump bullying tactics has already rubbed off in the 26-County state. Taoiseach, Micheal Martin, has already used his Dail majority to push through proceedings in the Dail allowing TDs who support the Government to speak using opposition speaking time. In other words, one minute they are government TDs then, in the next, they are opposition TDs using opposition speaking allocation and reducing the real oppositions speaking time to ‘hold the government to account’! All these government TDs have to do is waffle on and leave Sinn Fein and other opposition parties with little or no speaking time left! How long before elections in this ‘free world’ are things of the past as the US (Mafia) Don leads the way towards dictatorship?

  4. The NATO pretext was surely bogus: Since the war Putin has increased the size of the NATO border with Russia given Finland joining.
I was never convinced of the Nazi pretext either.
Austria and Germany have bigger far rights than Ukraine. The Far right in the 2019 election got 2/% of the vote - that is considerably less than what they got in other European countries.
Putin's strategy of managed nationalism was designed to incorporate Russian fascists/Nazis into a manageable wing of the Russian state.
There is a long history of Moscow labelling as Nazi people who oppose it - a bit like the Zionists in that regard. In the early 1930s when Moscow was starving millions of Ukrainians to death it labelled as Nazi even Jewish communists who spoke out against it.
Old Stalin was no averse to collaborating with the Nazis: The CP and the Nazi Party divided up Poland between them and of course we had the Soviet/Nazi pact (arguably for genuine strategic reasons).
According to Timothy Snyder more communists in Ukraine were Nazi collaborators than nationalists were.
Good piece Caoimhin. As we agreed yesterday the logic of where Ireland is at just now suggests neutrality will be abandoned.

  6. Putin was in University in Leningrad in 1991, still in the KGB but little to do with the coup 'd'état which collapsed the Soviet Union, of which he called a catastrophe. The USSR collapsed in large part due to going bankrupt after Chernobyl. They simply went bust.

When viewing ANYTHING by Trump it will hold you well to remember his vanity, it is in large part for domestic consumption rather than actual practical truth. He values the "Deal" above all. The show with Zelenskyy was theatre for the inevitable deal. The Donbass is Putin's and the Minerals are the US primary goal. Russia's military has been massively weakened by this 3 year "special operation" of which they still need US power to bring to an end...and that's right on their own doorstep. This thought will not be lost on Putin. Russia like Europe will now begin a period of vast rearmament.

What is the difference between what Bill Clinton said in an interview he gave in 2013(Goto 9mins 55seconds) compared to what The Donald is saying today about Putin?

Zelenskyy is trying in a very statesman like way to repair the damage done in the White House ambush.

All I can suggest is you scroll back, watch the complete 'Body Language Analysis of Trump and Zelenskyy' video, and listen to Jesús Enrique Rosas explain in detail why it wasn't an ambush. Rambo had no intention of signing any deal that day. Rambo is doing exactly what NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told him to and stop behaving like a spoilt teenager and do the deal with The Donald....

Frankie, can you not honestly see Trump for the malignant narcissist that he is?

The Donald is no more or less a 'malignant narcissist' than any other world leader you care to mention. The same charge could be levelled at Rambo, Marcon or Trudeau.

Which one of that trio is an adjudicated rapist, convicted felon, has boasted of grabbing women by the pussy and lies everyday about his achievements and those of his Presidency?

I know Macron was sexually abused by a former drama teacher when he was 14 years old. Did she rape him? No idea, the media don't want to talk about it. I doubt Macron, Rambo or Trudeau have the balls to admit that they've all made similar remarks about grabbing a pussy while having a few beers with friends--- I think the three musketeers win hands down in lying every day about their achievements... They tell more lies than The Donald.

Mark Rutter is not blaming Zelensky for the White House ambush not is he accusing him of acting like a spoilt teenager. He is asking him to go back and repair the damage which he is prepared to do.

Go back and open the article and within it you should find a link that takes you to the BBC interview, where he told Rambo to make the deal and stop behaving like a spoilt brat (Rutter was a more diplomatic)

a lot of Russia occasioned bloodshed has flowed since that spake by Clinton in 2013.

I know what year Clinton gave the interview. And in it he said he found it easy to deals with Putin and Vlad can be trusted to keep his word. Isn't that exactly what The Donald is saying in 2025?

Frankie, do you honestly think Trump and Vance's behaviour in public towards Zelensky was acceptable? Or was it just good TV for you?

The short answer is yes. Every language expert I have watched discusses what did and didn't happen in The Oval Office and blames Rambo. As for great entertainment----pure gold.
