Donald Trump was warned by an expert on Saturday that the President is causing great harm to the world and the U.S.

Atul Gawande, a former professor at the Harvard School of Public Health and former United States Agency for International Development official, took to social media over the weekend to sound the alarm. The surgeon and medical professor has studied hospital profits in the past.

"I ran USAID health programs for the last 3 years. Trump’s 90 day Stop Work Order on foreign assistance does serious damage to the world and the US," Gawande said.

Citing some purported "examples," Gawande said the stop work order "stops work battling a deadly Marburg outbreak in Tanzania and a wide outbreak of a mpox variant killing children in west Africa before it spreads further," "stops monitoring of bird flu in 49 countries, a disease which already killed an American on home soil," "stops critical work to eradicate polio," and even "stops >$1B in corporate drug donations and coordination eradicating tropical diseases like river blindness, elephantiasis, and others on the verge of elimination in whole regions."

  1. USAID, Waste and Abuse Runs Deep The White House February 3, 2025

Here are only a few examples of the WASTE and ABUSE:

$1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities”

$70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland

$2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam

$47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia

$32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru

$2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala

$6 million to fund tourism in Egypt

Hundreds of thousands of dollars for a non-profit linked to designated terrorist organizations — even AFTER an inspector general launched an investigation
Millions to EcoHealth Alliance — which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab

“Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria”

Funding to print “personalized” contraceptives birth control devices in developing countries
Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund “irrigation canals, farming equipment, and even fertilizer used to support the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan,” benefiting the Taliban...

  3. The history of religious charities in Ireland shows many intances where funds were used for the personal benefit of senior management, most commonly in bloated salaries, the advancement of pet projects and contracts to favoured firms.
In the US, the Cathoulic Relief Services organisation has an annual budget of $1.2 BILLION, of which approx. €650 million comes from the US taxpayer.
Given the history of religious charities, if I was Trump, I too would
look at how this money is being spent.

    1. Since Trump has lived off leveraged capital and never earned an honest crust in his life, that piece of excrescence has no moral right to judge any spending of public money.

  4. USAID cuts have already this week seen the halting of landmine clearing work in Asia, support for war veterans and independent media, and assistance for Rohingya refugees on the border of Bangladesh. This week also has seen the stopping of drug deliveries to fight the Mpox and Ebola outbreaks in Africa. Life-saving food lies rotting at African ports and even initiatives targeting trafficking of drugs like fentanyl have been pared back.

Although the antiretroviral prescriptions given to 20 million people around the world living with AIDS and HIV provided by the Pepfar programme have survived, the programme has still been blocked from organising cervical cancer screening, tuberculosis and polio, assisting maternal health, and efforts to curtail outbreaks of Ebola, Marburg and mpox. (Gordon Brown. "The aid axe falls: a Trump-made disaster that spans the globe" The Guardian Journal 7th February 2025 p.1)

Proud to be an apparent advocate of these cutbacks, Frankie?

    1. Great to see. Some of us still remember our reading of Gramsci and know what these funds really mean. Sure did we not observe the same from the 90s onwards in Ireland? Everyone had a finger in the pie as long as they got with the programme.

  5. Not a fan of Trump but isn't this a pause on USAID not a halt? There's been some eyeopening examples of pure waste it has to be said. Jobs for the boys no doubt. No wonder the Democrats are furious and scrambling for cover.

    1. A pause which is already having harmful impacts and which was decided upon and implemented by Elon Musk without any Congressional oversight. When are you going to wake up to the absolute monarchical way; l'etat moi in which Trump and his sidekick rules, Steve? Is spending money on disease prevention and maternity care "eye opening examples of pure waste"?

  6. USAID has been criticised prior to this for waste. But that seems to be the excuse rather than the reason for the Trump/Musk action. Foreign Policy magazine has exposed Musk lying about what USAID does. Greed driven people to whom everything is a business transaction. FP also warns that USAID is in essence the projection of US soft power, without the application of which countries like China will move to fill the vacuum. Even from a Foreign policy perspective, it seems a very short sighted initiative. Much like the nonsense they are spouting about Gaza.

    1. That's exactly what it is, Barry. I worked abroad for a period and know first hand the absolute corruption regarding funds given for Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries in the region. Millions lost to bribes, middle men, etc., so that everyone got their cut and wouldn't rock the boat. The whole system is a scam.

  9. Chungus, I don't question your personal experience of the operation of overseas aid. But surely the answer is better auditory and parliamentary or Congressional oversight rather than wholesale, undemocratic abolition.

  10. Barry,

You aren't very good at basic maths.

These projects amount to less than 2 million dollars of USAID budget, Frankie

    Then you revised your maths....

As I have said, amounts to less than 3m dollars of USAID budget

When I added up the 'figures' I got £12.149,000. That wasn't counting the ......."Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund “irrigation canals, farming equipment, and even fertilizer used to support the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan,” benefiting the Taliban.".........Then you have to add on the $100/200 Billion Rambo says are lost—unaccountable.

How you got 2---3 Million US, beats me.

You are just a cypher for the greatest liar and Mafia boss on this rock, Frankie.

Michael Franzese, a former Caporegime in the Colombo crime family is on record saying, he found it easier to bribe Democrats than Republicans........... Here, Franzese explains how the Biden Admin/USAid was skimming more US tax dollars than The Mafia skimmed---Micheal Franzese was skimming between $8--10 million a week in the '80s.

surely the answer is better auditory and parliamentary or Congressional oversight rather than wholesale, undemocratic abolition.

That's exactly what US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained is happening in a recent interview, he also went on record to say what DOGE can and cannot do and how they all have security clearances. Luke Farritor, despite his young age, is more than qualified to do the job Free Speech Musk asks him to do.

If you want to understand why Democrats will in all probability be out of the White House for at least the next 10 yrs, listen to what a former DNC staffer who raised millions for both Creepy Joe and a cunt called Kamala told The Shawn Ryan Podcast...

If you want to understand what is going on behind the scenes, again pay attention to Whitney Webb. Or read How Trump's Dismantling Of USAID Marks A Seismic, Historic Shift In America's Role In The World......

    1) The US is dismantling its foreign interference apparatuses (like USAID )

    2) Marco Rubio stating that we're now in a multipolar world with "multi-great powers in different parts of the planet" and that "the postwar global order is not just obsolete; it is now a weapon being used against us."

    3) The tariffs on supposed "allies" like Mexico, Canada or the EU: This is the US effectively saying "our attempt at running the world is over, to each his own, we're now just another great power, not the 'indispensable nation'." It looks "dumb" (as the WSJ just wrote) if you are still mentally in the old paradigm but it's always a mistake to think that what the US (or any country) does is dumb.

Hegemony was going to end sooner or later, and now the U.S. is basically choosing to end it on its own terms. It is the post-American world order - brought to you by America itself. Even the tariffs on allies, viewed under this angle, make sense, as it redefines the concept of "allies": they don't want - or maybe rather can't afford - vassals anymore, but rather relationships that evolve based on current interests.

  11. And threatening to take over Greenland, Panama and Gaza is not foreign interference by rapist and paedo Trump, Frankie?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Barry,

Greenland----The consensus is if Greenlanders had an independence vote, they'd vote 'YES' and have closer ties with the USA. (The stumbling block is Denmark's 'foreign interference' in Greenland)

Panama---- José Raúl Mulino has said the country will not renew a trade and development agreement with China after President Donald Trump accused the Chinese of controlling the Panama Canal (No issue there)

Gaza-----The Donald has fcuked up. I am on board with some of what he says. 6-8 weeks ago on TPQ, I said, "Now that Gaza has been leveled, why not let the Palestinians rebuild it and they can make it a better strip than Vegas"....(There is more than enough natural gas under Gaza to pay for 10 strips)...

The Donald's thoughts on Gaza are wrong on every level...If he carries out his threat about exiling Palestinians forever, then he is no better than Creepy Joe....(Maybe he is simply scaring, triggering people to make them see sense---time will tell)

by rapist and paedo Trump, Frankie?

Ill keep this simple for your false/conspiracy shit.
Congress allocates funds and a president cannot impound it (see Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974).
Congress establishes Agencies, for example, USAID was created via Congress's Foreign Assistance Act in 1961. Presidents sign the checks and cut the tape so to speak in opening ceremonies from the Oval Office. Presidents can refer cases back to congress to rescind establishment of an Agency or withdraw funding.

This means Hitler 2 cannot dissolve an Agency or impound funds allocated to them. THEREFORE!! He cannot assign any of his billionaire partners in crime to do it on his behalf.

Frankie, Ill keep this simple for your false/conspiracy shit.

That's exactly what you told me when I asked for your opinion on the contents of Happy Hunters' laptop ( and how he laundered Chinese & Russian money through Ukraine and into the Biden Crime Family's private bank accounts, the exploitation of women and teenagers, the drug taking...)...Throw into the mix Ashley Bidens diary and how members of her family abused her and how Creepy Joe would take inappropriate showers with his daughter...

Thanks for the very brief history lesson about USAID. I understood how corrupt USAID is, in 2018 when I watched this episode of the Corbett Report in 2018. I don't see the difference between what Clinton said in 1997, and what Obama said in 2011 (open the link and GOTO 3m 45 secs and listen to what 2 former US Presidents said) to what The Donald is saying today. It's all much of a muchness...
