Since it’s almost Christmas, the right-wing Catholic League has put up a new billboard wishing everyone a warm, festive holiday season… and I’m just kidding of course they didn’t.
Their hideous billboard, located near Madison, Wisconsin, proclaims “This Is Our Season—Not Yours.” As if they own winter… or December?
That’s supposed to be a direct rebuttal to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, headquartered in Madison, which has put up “winter solstice” signs in the past. But even those signs were never anti-Christian so much as they were a reminder that this time of year is for everybody, not one group in particular. (And if the explicit proclamation of atheism is too much for you, well, what do you think a Nativity scene is but a statement of beliefs?)
At this season of the Winter Solstice, let reason prevail.
There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell.
There is only our natural world.
Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.
In the announcement of the new billboard, the Catholic League called the sign a “Christmas gift” to FFRF.
