David DouglassI've just seen in the Daily Mail of all places that my old friend and Comrade Pat Arrowsmith died at the end of Sept. She was 93, what a women!!

Pat Arrowsmith (Pic: Socialist Worker)

Founder member of CND, and then Committee of 100, an Anarchist but believed in using any platform which was useful at the time.

She campaigned bravely on Troops Out (of Ireland) and I was with her in some hair raising situations.

Although a pacifist she confronted the troops directly face to face especially at Crossmaglen where she walked round 'the alamo' banging on the corrugated sheeting and barbed wire demanding they come out and speak to her . . .  I waited for the gunfire but no she survived.

Before the start of the Iraq war she set up a peace camp in the path of advancing US and British tanks but the Iraqi's forcibly moved them, correctly arguing that the bastards would run them down and blame Saddam as they had done with 9/11.
