Ballymac Friendship Centre The long awaited documentary on Long Kesh Prison tunnel escape by Red Hand Commando & Ulster Volunteer Force volunteers is now available to view.

Few knew about the tunnel operation to escape during the 70s and even less knew within the last lot of years with the acceptance of those who where involved in the tunnel operation and close friends and family.

This story behind one of the tunnels is excellently portrayed by the Ballymac Friendship Centre who also have made a number of videos about ulster loyalism and marching bands, a page definitely worth to check out!

The short documentary brilliantly shows how loyalist prisoners spent their days educating themselves in history, politics, economics etc while also being disciplined by keeping fit and keeping their cells and compounds clean. Loyalist political prisoners of war where always encouraged and continually held classes on a wide range of topics, even on Irish history and republicanism (like the old saying goes, to beat your enemy you must know your enemy).

Despite this common myth that loyalists spent their days lifting weights and doing nothing constructive was a total lie created by prison officers . . .
