The City v Spurs Saturday night special was an absolute cracker and Kane was instrumental in Spurs taking the points. He had the perfect foil in Son to play alongside him. For the first goal Kane played a superb ball around the corner to find Son in acres of space and he squared the ball to Kulusevski to finish.
City then took the game under control like only City can and got the equaliser after half an hour. Most would have expected City to kick on and win the game but Spurs' Kane had other ideas. Kane picked the ball up in midfield and played an exquisite pass to Son who was charging away up front, Son played a lovely ball into the middle and Kane beat the offside trap to stroke the ball and finish a move that he started. 1-2 Spurs!
City again piled on the pressure and won a penalty which Mahrez put away in stoppage time. As the 4th official put up the added time of 7 mins, I expected City to really push for the winner but it was Spurs who got the ball wide to Kulusevski who was given the time and space to pick a cross (stop the cross!) and Kane headed home the winner. 2-3 Spurs and 3 points that have opened up the title race again after Liverpool's win over Norwich earlier that day.
Kane was immense. In a game where City dominated possession, Kane never wasted a ball, showed an incredible passing range and finished off 2 goals like top number 9s do. He downed a high-flying City team that tried to sign him last summer.
It was the sort of game that makes the EPL the top league in the world and football the number one sport. It is a three-points that puts Liverpool back in the hunt and lights up the race for 4th.
I remember a pundit on Sky saying that when he was at Spurs Kane was on the youth team and no-one expected him to make the step up. He was shy and not very quick, which usually doesn't bode well for strikers, but you have to say that only Mo Salah is better than him in England right now.
Next up for City is a tough away game at Goodison, while the Reds face Leeds at home tomorrow night then Chelsea in the League Cup Final against Chelsea on Sunday.
