After a turbulent Christmas period I have been waiting patiently for government agencies to release some data regarding the festive Omicron surge. The CSO haven’t produced anything COVID related since December 17th 2021, pushing on for a month now.
The CSO usually produce a weekly COVID-19 Deaths and Cases publication that has been useful for analysis purposes. However, in the last couple of days some data is starting to drip out of the HSPC and I’ll go through an interesting facet of it that I haven’t previously picked up on before.
There is a statistic in the HSPC dataset that I can’t quite believe or wrap my head around. To the point of getting up, making a cup of coffee, coming back and looking at it again and mumbling to myself:
"Surely, that can’t be right" ...
According to the HSPC 87% or 5,208 of people that have died of COVID in the last 2 years Did Not receive ICU treatment. If this statistic is true it leaves a hell of a lot more questions than it answers. One must ask the question Why?
