My colleagues at Rolling Stone recently endorsed Joe Biden for president:
Biden’s lived experience and expansive empathy make him not just a good, but an outstanding candidate… This is a fight between light and darkness…
Joe Biden is a corpse with hair plugs whose idea of “empathy” is to jam fingers in the sternums of people who ask the wrong questions, or call them “fat” or “full of shit,” or dare them to “try me” — and that’s if he remembers what state he’s in. Is he a better human than Donald Trump? Probably, but his mental decline has hit Lloyd Bridges-in-Hot-Shots! levels and he shares troubling characteristics with the president, beginning with a pathological struggle with truth.
Biden spent much of 2020 lying about everything from his Iraq War vote to his educational history to a fantasy about being arrested in South Africa with Nelson Mandela. The same press that killed him for this behavior in the past let it all slide this time. Same with the growing ledger of handsy-uncle incidents that had adolescent girls and campaigning politicians alike wondering why a Vice President needs to smell their hair or plant lingering kisses on their heads while cameras flash.
Biden’s entire argument for the presidency, and it’s a powerful one, is his opponent. This week’s election is not a choice between “light or darkness,” but “pretty much anything or Donald Trump,” and only in that context is this disintegrating, bilious iteration of Scranton Joe even distantly credible as a choice for the world’s most powerful office.

I still want The Donald to win (apart from he is great entertainment), it will piss off the neo-liberal namby pampy bigrade no end...ReplyDelete
I have issues with The Donald, I said why here on TPQ a few years ago. Creepy Joe isn't much better....
In other swpords you want all non-wnite peoples, femkinists and LTGBQ to be possed off as well as anyone concerned with the health of the democratic process and governancde. But never wiond, KJode looks to be on the way to victory leaving you to wallow in your wet dream fantasies, Frankie.Delete
Barry - the blog would appreciate it if you made the effort not to comment in gobbledygook. Just have a look at that and see how it reads.Delete
Supporting a political leader who has said he might allow a peaceful transfer of power in the event of losing, and who is so rabid about suppressing voters isn't a democrat. And those supporting him and his methods, in full knowledge of that, begin to lose the right to describe themselves as democrats either.
Voting in a crypto-fascist to "own the libs" is the hallmark of an imbecile. Grow up.
Trump didn't drop 💯,000 bombs on 7 countries ( unlike Obama).Biden is another war monger. That is why I want Trump to win .Screw Irish Americans who never criticise American imperialism # 🎺 🎺 🎺 🎺ReplyDelete
I think the only way the Democrats can lose now is if they bring Hillary back.Delete
He jusst fights wars against AfricaN Americans, Muslims, Latin Americans and America's democcratic institutions.Delete
Grow up Ronan.
I think we'll see the back of him. He has got people talking about the wholesale corruption in politics, I'd like to see people continue with this scepticism of US presidents but I fear after him it's back to norm for most people, hysteria over.ReplyDelete
Back to sanity more like after a president who has openly encouraged far right wnhite nationalists; who withdfrew the US from Climate Change accxord and from the Irainian nuclear agreement; who behaves likde a mini Putin and, most damningly, knowingly allowed 250,000 an d counting US citizens to die of Covid-19
A Trump defeat is thde first step to reversing the gtide of nationalist populiost ordure that has swept across much of the democratic world.
You or I are not American. What you call a return to sanity might be a return to hardship for Americans. I know Trump's faults, there is an argument he would be better in a struggling economy than the democrats, that's the priority for working class yanks.
Listing his failures might make you feel better, it means nothing to me, I could do the same with Obama, Bush, Clinton. They are Kleptocrats and murderers in fancy suits including your Kier Stamer. I don't understand allegiance to any these people. That's for the youth with fire in their belly and naivety in their brain.
What happens in the US affects us all and Trump's criminal handling of Covid falls disproportionately on poor, black and working class Americans.
Say what you like about Obams, Bush, Clinton, Starmer (juvenile nonsense though it is) but at least they have always promixsed to uphold election results or have solicited support from or became poster boys for violent, extremist militias.
Today is thr day that the US formally leaves the Paris climate accord as a resiult of a decision by Trump. Better to have America locked into intrnational systewms and norms rather than an isoalationsit proto-fasvsit power.
It's close but I think The Donald gets his big toe over the line...ReplyDelete
With the help of his cronies on the Supreme Court.Delete
Biden's failure to win it outright and early has put him in dangerous watersReplyDelete
Gotta pity the yanks. The worst two candidates in recent history. Hopefully AOC will run in 2024ReplyDelete

Trump has won morally that election. He faced an endless media onslaught in cahoots with a Democratic campaign rhyming on about a fake pandemic and the lie that 230,000 yanks snuffed it 'WITH' covid19. Pure wall to wall saturation horse-shit. The swamp is deep and filled with reptiles with a cheerleader fan base of gymps and pussies who are TV activated and directed. Good for Trump the Don of ALL Dos. The BBC got polls got it all wrong and yet we are to believe they are correct on the percentage of Democratic postal votes? Suspicious MUCH methinks. Trump been fighting the entire system and career parasitic reptiles like Biden 47 year lining his own pocket from China and Ukraine to Capitol Hill cesspit. What Trump needs to do is get over the line and jail Fauci and Gates for life without parole and tell all gymps and pussies to stay home, nobody fucking wants or needs ya!!
What you say dloes not deserve to be taken seriiou8sly. Go take ypur palce with the Farages, Putinss, Orbans ansd Trumps and dareI say it the Gemma Doheqrty's of this world. .

I think what is really noticeable about these two is that although Trump may be a lunatic, Biden is coming across as suffering from the early onslaught of dementia!!!! He seems quite lost at times. So it's either the fire or the inferno...not much choice!
If a President Biden does lot last the couurse; he has a very capable Vice President in Kamal Harris to take the reins of power.
Dismissing an point of view as juvenile nonsense isn't a counter argument. It means nothing to me who the US president is, their empire goes far deeper than a figurehead. The only time I think about it is when people like yourself comes out with conspiracy theories about a sitting US president being a Russian spy or the other side claiming his predecessor wasn't a US citizen, it's entertaining.
Here we go again, every chance you get Orban, Trump, Farage, Putin far right conspiracies to take over western civilisation. If you honestly believe this, what you doing about it? Is this your idea of resistance, writing shite on forums, how long you been going on about this now? comparisons to the thirties and all the rest of it, tool up or shut up as the saying goes.
There is a solid body of witten and documentary evoidecne showing that Putin interfered in the 2016 el3ection. There is alos a body pof electoral evidecne of the virulence of right-wing populist nationalism and associated xenophobia, racism and anti-Muslim senmtiment.
You can legitimately attribute the rise of populism as a reaction to globalisation. What you cannot do is throw about aleagations of murder against democratically elected leaders ansd not expect a response.
Larry Hughes commentsReplyDelete
Hail Trump the Don of All Dons. If he can survive pre prepared fraudulent postal votes it will be 4 more glorious years of anti globalism. Failing that after 3 recounts civil war will commence and all deaths will be deemed covid19.
If that is not a parody, then your comment about "4 more years of antiglobaloism" olouts as an antisemite as well as an xenophonbic, angti-Muslim bigot.
Barry - why would being anti-globalist make a person anti-Semitic? I believe in a global government ultimately - global problems need globally addressed but I don't see its critics as being anti-Semites: most of the religious crackpots oppose globalism while at the same time supporting IsraelDelete
It's a clusterf*ck nomatter what self-serving old white guy gets in. The real test will come when the people realize that they are still fu*ked over in 6 months time. Whoever wins will need a heavy hand to quell the citizens umbrage.ReplyDelete
After this election there will be a few people grumbling but there will be no 'civil war' or revolution or any other violence along those lines...there will be some disgruntled people and then they will accept what they voted for....BLM will continue to protest and life will go on as it did before the election....nothing fundamental will change as there is no dynamism exisiting that will bring about radical change...remember the most important aspect of this election was not COVID-19 and certainly not equality but people focused on taxes....so there will be no revolution in USA
Being as mistrustful of revolutionaries as I am of reverends - they just bash their own particular bible - the question invariably seems one of how to achieve revolution without revolutionaries.Delete

"....the question invariably seems one of how to achieve revolution without revolutionaries.....

Opponebts of globalism from the nationalist far right frequently menntion gloabalism in the same sentence as George Soros which is wnhy antiracists as a clear antisemtic ttrope. They see thr hand of Soros (and often the Rothschilds) behind the New World Order and the Great Replacement because he is a millionaire financier who funds liberal causes. In the demonising of one individual amalagamates Jewry, money and global conspiracies, the primeval image of the Jew is created.
Support for Israel from religious crackpots and Orban's friendship with Netananyu no morre absolves them of antiseitims charges that does the supposed Jewishness of Jewish Voice for Labour absolve them of the same charge due to thr cover they provided to the former leadership of the Labour Party for the institutional antisemitims that the EHRC so clinically dissected last week.
Barry - you, not Larry, mentioned George Soros in the same sentence as globalism. That hardly makes you anti-Semite. In your defence you will say, rightly, that you were explaining. But all you explanation does is seek to wield anti-Semitism as a cudgel to clobber into silence ideas from your critics. Won't work on this site. Nothing in that comment by Larry was remotely anti-Semitic.Delete
Interference in an election is not the same as the US president being a spy which is what you implied, numerous times here.
Murder is an unlawful and deliberate killing of a human being. Here's is where it gets complicated, not morally but legally, when Obama authorised drone attacks that killed civilians, blatant war crimes, which because of the global standings he'll never be held accountable for, I'm I then wrong to insinuate he's murderer when that's how I see him?
When Putin arms Assad, do you see him as a murderer?
Obama ordered dronbe attacks agasinst identified jihadist terrorsits which unfortubnately killed civilians due perhaps to faulty intel and thr practice of Isamist terrorsits to embed themswlves amoing he civilian population an d therefore to use them as human shields.ReplyDelete
Assad and Putin pulverised civilian populations causing thousands of deaths; thry did not attack ISIS held territory.
Trump may not have been a spy for Putin but coild well have been a valuable asset for him. How else to explian his fawning attitude towards him?
Both Assad/Putin and leaders of liberal democracies used similar tactics in civilian areas. One you condemn the other you put down to bad Intel. Do you not see the problem with your thinking process there?ReplyDelete
Barry, I've no idea about the relationship between Trump and Putin. The point is, if you're going to call someone an asset, you have to prove it. What did we learn from the Mueller report, nothing apart from the FBI set Flynn up. The impeachment cries over Ukraine interference, how did that end? We found out Biden looks a bit shady. Now if you're concerned about the integrity of liberal democracies a campaign should be afoot to get that uncovered. Can't see it, Trump's away, now corruption in the west doesn't matter.
How can the establishment left come back from this? How can you be taken seriously on the me too movement or foreign interference when your partisanship is so blatant.
Last week a two part documentary by the acclaimed documentary m aker Ryan Giley (watch "No Stome Unturned" a forensic expose of the failure of and collusion by the RUC with the UVF perpetrators of the Loughinisland massacre in 1994) was shown on Sky Documentaries which drilled down into Trump's business intereasts in Russia, the hacking operation by the Russian Fancy Bear operatives into the Democratic National Committee and how Putin's Internet Reerarch Agency troll army flooded social media with disinforamtion on an industrial scale in order to influence the election outcome.
Trump's impeachment over his blatantly illegal call on a foreign govt to look for dirt on a potential election opponewt ended thr way it did becasuse Republicna Senators shamelessly put party before country.
Mike Flynn lied to VP Pecne over his links to putin. Five other leading memerbrs of GTrump 2016 election team wen to jail for Russia rdelated offences; Paul Mannofort, the veteran lobbtyist Paul Mannefort.
Biden's alleged shadiness does not compaRE to Trump's record of serial bankruptcies, sexual assaults, racial slurs and LIES!
I make no apology for my partisanship in favour of liberal democracy ; its values and the post-war rules based international order abnd against the repellent brand of right-wing populism and cronyism personified by Trump who after his eviction from the White House will hopefully be wearing a suit to match the colour of his hair.
The well documented crimes of unaccountable despots like Assad, Putin and Prince Binb Salman are of a different scale to thsoe allegedly committed by Obama who was fighting an global ndetwork of genocidal Islamist terrorits who have been at war with thde US since 1998. Would you have preferred Obama to have invaded the Afganistan/Pakistan border regions where Al-Quedfa oprerated?
Hostility to globalism as articulaed by far right natiionalist populistas is code for an afrray of prejudices includi9ng opposition to immigration, opposition to "sworld elite" imposed gay rigjhts and abortion rights agendas, opposition to Islamn and antisemitism. Unfortunately Lafrry ticks quite a few of those boxes.
Barry - that looks more like a code for you wanting to censor opinions you don't approve of. But Larry nor anyone else here needs your approval to express an opinion. His views can be very wrong but to label him anti-Semitic is a product of your onw bias.Delete
None of that proves anything and you know this, if there was any proof it would have been in the public domain ages ago. It's the definition of a conspiracy theory, you were talking about pee tapes not too long ago.
I'm not asking you to apologise for anything. You took umbrage with me calling these people murderers yet you call other people murderers for using the same tactics and you don't seem to have a problem with that which raises questions about your apparent aversion to violence.
Most of Trump's appalling behaviour was done as a private citizen while Biden's was as a elected official so I wouldn't agree it doesn't compare.
The FBI were caught setting Flynn up that's all I said, I didn't excuse any of his behaviour.
Your rhetorical question about Obama is irrelevant. If you condemn your opponents but excuse those you admire for the same actions you lose credibility with rational minds as a commentator.
I'm not excusing murder, you are. I've no problem criticising Putin or Assad, they are scum. How many civilians has NATO killed since 1998?
Christ it's hard to read your posts Barry, there's no excuse in the age of spellcheck.ReplyDelete
at this stage Steve it is hard to believe that he is not taking the piss. He has ben told often enough. None of this gibberish features in his pieces. So he can do it properly when it suits.Delete
I don't think he's doing it on purpose, the extra letters are all around the one's he is using. Looks more like he's rushing it and carelessly not checking before posting. Still, no excuse anymore as it takes away from his argument and there's even a tool to assist.
I am sorry but the dialog box that I am using mkes my script miniscule and so hard to correct as I Type..ReplyDelete
Both Anthony and myself have told you to use a Microsoft word document then copy and paste. This will also take care of spellcheck for you (the errors will be underlined in red). It's getting to the stage were people will start to ignore what you post as it becomes painful to read and in at least one occasion before, the typo nearly stated the exact opposite of what you meant. We are not trying to be arseholes about this.

I think a distaste of globalisation comes from historical colonisation, military, and more recently economic. As for the anti semitic accusation .. where the hell did that spring from? lol Jews were slaughtered terribly in WW2 it was wrong. That doesn't justify Russian and USA free loaders pouring into Palestine today. Looks like your thinking is up there with your typing Barry.
