➤Four men arrested over murder of veterinary doctor that has left country in shock.

The gang rape of a veterinary doctor whose body was set on fire and dumped under a bridge has sent shockwaves through India, with hundreds of women taking to the streets in protest.

The charred body of the 27-year-old woman was found on the outskirts of the southern city of Hyderabad on Wednesday night.

CCTV footage, police reports and witness accounts suggest the attack had been premeditated. The woman’s scooter tyres had allegedly been deflated by four men, who then sat waiting in a lorry nearby and approached her to offer help.

She was allegedly dragged to an uninhabited scrubland near the motorway that was hidden from the road by bushes, where she was smothered to muffle her screams and raped by the men. It is believed they then suffocated her. Her body was then put into a truck and taken to a motorway underpass, where the men set it alight and dumped it at around 2am.

Her body was found at 5am by a resident of nearby Chatanpally village who noticed smoke. The body was wrapped in a blanket and had been doused with kerosene.

  1. Considering past cases of rape and murder in India I wouldn't be hopeful of conviction of these fuckers...

  2. Well justice has been servered, from the Guardian,

"...According to the police, the accused men – Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu – were taking part in reconstruction of the crime in the early hours of Friday morning when they tried to escape and were shot by police."

    Nothing suspicious about that!

  3. Was the real reason behind all four being killed an attempt to silence street protest, running commentary and the publicity of a high profile trial?

Which in turn serves to take attention away from the Police and judiciaries consistent failures to properly take on the problem.

  4. This is the stuff of nightmares, and a nightmare we will increasingly endure in the West too if we keep adding them to our societies.

Too many men (of every hue) are already trapped in an unfulfilling existence in the gig economy, with little chance of meeting partners let alone sustaining meaningful relationships with them. We shouldn’t be adding to the problem by sending male/female ratio’s to unsafe levels.

This is not to excuse the attackers, it understand the causes we need to start asking questions that may have difficult answers, but nothing as difficult as what this poor woman faced.
