This Wednesday sees the hugely anticipated debate on the merits of the 1916 Rising with a panel consisting of Tommy McKearney and controversial Daily Mail columnist, Ruth Dudley Edwards. The format of the debate dictates that the panelists will be given 20 minutes each to talk, with the discussion then opened up to the audience for what is expect to be a lively debate.

The 1916 Societies in Dublin believe it important to have these types of public debates coming up to the Centenary, to address what we consider a revisionist agenda to distort the men and women of 1916 and what they stood for. Ruth Dudley Edwards we feel is part of the group of people who distort that message so we are keen to debate the issue with her and hope to have as much audience participation (no matter their opinion) as possible to ensure a lively, free-flowing debate.

The debate takes place this Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Teachers Club, Parnell Square, Dublin 1. Entry is free and all are welcome.
