Scairt Amach |
Republican Political Prisoners, Roe 4 have been working relentlessly within the Jail to produce our quarterly magazine, “Scairt Amach”. This is no mean feat given the pitiful conditions and very limited resources available to us; coupled with this is the ever present need to resist the full weight of the Jail Administrations efforts to impose a policy of criminalisation.
The magazine has been used to carry our views on important practical and political issues from a Republican Prisoner perspective. We regularly receive responses from throughout Ireland and abroad congratulating us on the quality of the magazine. Naturally, we are unable to aid in the distribution of the magazine:
It is among the few components of compilation and distribution in which we are unable to participate. We can only appeal to the Republican Support Base on the matter of distribution to see the importance of ensuring that the magazine is sufficiently circulated.
In areas throughout the Six Counties, as in Derry for example, we have recently seen the full weight of normalisation and efforts to co-opt Irish National Identity into a British Political Culture. In some of these areas we have a substantial Republican base and a strong tradition of prisoner support. It is only logical that we need to maximise the Republican voice.
Therefore, we would ask those interested in supporting Republican Prisoners to assist in the distribution and selling of our magazine “Scairt Amach” to as wide an audience as possible. All assistance would be greatly appreciated and formally recognised by Republican Political Prisoners, Roe 4, Maghaberry.
