- Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst - Thomas Paine
My offence good, your offence bad |
You have threatened legal action against people in Ireland who might have the temerity to defy the theocrats by publishing the Charlie Hebdo cartoons in solidarity with those murdered by your co–religionists. Presumably for your purposes, which I can only view as pernicious, you hope to avail of Section 36’s ridiculous blasphemy clause in the Defamation Act of 2009.
I would wish you good luck with that, but only sarcastically – is sarcasm too banned by your religious opinion? - because I don’t wish you good luck at all. My point is simply that I will be raptured into heaven before you build a successful case on the absurdities of that particular piece of legislation.
But even were you to prove successful it would make no difference. As someone who values people before prophets it is much more important in my secular humanist opinion that we continue to speak out for murdered artists and their work rather than stay silent in the name of your prophet and his hadiths.
It is not my intention to offend you although, because of your penchant for censorship, I remain indifferent to whether you are offended or not. As a rule I think people who spend their time seeking others whom they might offend are best avoided. I think the same of those devout practitioners of victimology who never miss an opportunity to be offended. Both mirror, complement and need each other as they endlessly play one-upmanship in a race to the bottom of the bottomless pit.
Being offended is not something monopolised by those of the Islamic faith. I find it deeply offensive that you should threaten any writer or artist with legal action. But I won’t ask for you to be silenced by order of the court. There is no law, nor should there be, which shields my secular opinion from offence. There is a law, as indeed there should, that allows you to offend me. That circumstance is the product of our secular culture which you avail of to offend me by demanding that writers should be legally muzzled.
I am including images from Charlie Hebdo in this piece. I am doing so in contempt of your court threat to censor anyone who might feel that the murdered cartoonists of Paris merit solidarity through the diffusion of their work. You have every right not to look at the images. You are aware that such a course is open to you if you really wish to avoid being offended. What really offends you, I suspect, is that other people might see the images and make a judgment not approved by you about the content. And that would deprive you of some of the power and influence you wield over them.
You claim that publishing the images does not allow for peaceful coexistence. It is axiomatic that peaceful coexistence is guaranteed if those who dislike cartoons respond peacefully to their publication. That is the one obstacle in the way of peaceful coexistence. The reaction rather than the action is the casus belli. Violence occurs because theocrats and intolerant bigots can’t abide having their religious opinion challenged, their edicts disobeyed, their beliefs mocked. They find solace in murder not mercy.
You assert that you are ‘a great advocate of freedom of expression,” but not if it leads to confrontation. Which means you are not for free expression at all, but heavily curbed, controlled, managed and tutored expression. You really stand for free suppression which gives you and people who think like you the ability to freely suppress others who do not think as you think they should think.
Writers, artists and cartoonists of whatever hue in this country must never allow themselves to be silenced by you. We should avoid reaching any understanding with you in the bogus name of tolerance that would see you brandish your eraser while we wave our leadless pencils and proclaim "appeasement in our time". That is not co-existence but malign tutelage.
The secular tradition to which I subscribe generally permits me to think, sketch or write what I like. It allows me to poke fun at and mock other ideologies including religious ones. Where limits are imposed they are societally rather than clerically mandated. I am not in your religious club and am not subject to its rules. I don’t believe in your god, or any god. I find so appealing the idea propagated by Michel de Montaignet that people who cannot make a single worm can make gods by the dozen.
But they must never be allowed to make laws by the dozen.
Yours mordantly (but not murderously)
Anthony McIntyre
The Pensive Quill
Anthony-hu Akbar!
ReplyDeleteAnthony you are doing what the big outlets won't but would it not worry you about you and your families security? After we heard you on radio free we were just saying how you were right in the past but suffered for it. Pickets and all. But these guys are a whole different ball game. Lone wolves acting on their own and you don't know what's in the nutters heads.
ReplyDeleteIt's alright us saying well done Anthony when it's not us in the firing line.
AM,
ReplyDeleteNot much room for miss-interpretation there.....and no need to worry about you or your families safety...for the Jihadists are all down the shops with the rest of the Muslim community!!!!
Why are you in Ireland Ali Selim? To think you are teaching at Trinity College (your very own madrassa to indoctrinate the naïve) My little kafir fingers are working overtime in rage on the keyboard
ReplyDeletePack yer bags Ali Selim and get out of Ireland. Syria or Mosul would be the right place for you to live where you can preach, engage in torture and subjugation of vulnerable and INFLICT MIND NUMBING CONFORMITY.
Beheadings, crucifixions, raping of both genders AND THE BIG BONUS – NO OPPOSING VIEWS, NO SATIRE and NO CARTOON DEPICTIONS OF YOUR PROPHET BY THE KAFIR
Just killings and subjugation and prayer times! One big happy blood soaked UMMAH punctuated by frequent cries of Allah Akbar.
I am an artist btw and if I wanted to depict Islam I would simply paint an enormous canvas bright red (you know the river of blood that is Islam) and in one corner there would be a wizened up DEAD brain representing all the children, women, men (Muslim – yeah u kill your own, Yazidi, Jews, Christian, atheist, homosexual etc) your ideology has destroyed, killed, subjugated. You even kill cartoonists…
The river of blood that flows from your ‘religion of peace’ is unbelievable. It is actually not a religion but a death cult ideology and you know full Islam means slave to Allah which is exactly what you are. An indoctrinated slave to an ideology that demands all conform to it. How dare you but u do dare (resting on Islam’s laurels of terrorism and bloodshed and intent to instil fear) live in Ireland and demand Irish conform to your ideology.
You are none too bright for a Muslim scholar? Islamic artists depicted Mohammed up until the seventeenth century so purporting depictions of Mohammed are not allowed is clearly a lie. Taqiyya anyone?
That religion of peace that just keeps on giving: violence, hate, fear, standovers, playing the victim card when confronted… and now attempting to threaten legal action… Pathetic you are pathetic..
The religion of peace contributions for January 2015 so far
You must be so proud Ali Selim!

mary, the muslims could do a big list on christian horrors - 800 babies in tuam, and elsewhere godknows. i think all this is being manipulated by the zionists, the sight of the israeli leader in paris was truly nauseating. most muslims are dead sound, i worked with indonesian muslims in sydney, gorgeous people. they are the furthest thing from haters. sure there was the odd mofo, but sadly they get all the headlines. i distinctly remember being moved when the indonesian girls i worked with one christmas displayed profound respect and love for Mary - i understood little about their beliefs back then,(stil do really). gorgeous women. are the satanic zionists trying to get us at each other. there are loads of peaceful muslims. the zionists are behind the wars and suffering in their countries. cant blame the muslims for everything. i believe they are being manipulated. saying all that, the list u provide is horrible. but sure, look whats been going on here for ages. and i hate to be counting bodies, but how many human beings have muslims killed in the last 150 years compared to so called christian governments. saint francis had a profound affect on the sultan nearly a thousand years ago now. that gives hope. humans are violent anyway with or without religion. sure most of us here on the quill were violent too at some stage. i wouldnt publish a cartoon of mohammed in my newspaper, but i would do an interview with this guy and other muslims with different views to him. he wud look a bit cartoonish then.
ReplyDelete@ Grouch Iosa in Islam is deemed a prophet hence Mary is recognised as Holy. In Christian belief - Theotokos - she carried the Divinity in her uterus. Gave birth to God in flesh. The fire symbol is a sign of Holy Spirit used also in Islam to depict purity/spiritual power.
ReplyDeleteI agree with some of what you said... The Zionist stuff is real but so is the Islam stuff as I detailed. Someone is pulling the strings It be the Devil dressed in sheeps clothing The Caliphate on Hells Wheels is rolling into town but everyone thinks its something else... All paths also lead to the Vatican Join the dots... Nuff said... U know it gets crazy ... Late here gotta get up early...
Theres a saint for Hopeless cases lol st jude I think Me not pray to the saints... only Iosa
Song for u (I have 75 songs like this on ipod in English and Arabic much to the dismay of my neighbors hehe Crank em up on weekend) This is my fav song about Mary Check the pictures in this one They r beautiful and tell the continuity story (Moses - David - Iosa) It is sung in English Slan

i think all this is being manipulated by the zionists...
ReplyDeleteDunno Grouch, could the Jesuits... but I'm with you in that it's (world events) all stage managed by the NWO brigade. And I agree with your opinion on the taliban you've met. The ones I know are just normal people doing their best and struggling with today and not worrying what tomorrow may or may not bring.
Grouch, I knew a couple of dozen people who were Muslims during my time in England and without exception they were friendly, warm, humorous and respectful.
ReplyDeleteThere have been Islamist acts of terror. So too all over the Middle East there has been terrorism more recently by predominantly Christian and/or Western governments both directly and by proxy.
There is no monopoly on dishing out terror.
if the romans are part of the nwo, then i giv up.i dont know does god consider me a christian, but i try to be and will always say im a christian, even if it causes me grief/death. theres nothing worth dying for but peace and the truth come close. i had to collect a car from a muslim mechanic in dublin last week. i had to wait for ten minutes as he was praying. fair ball to him. he has his priorities right.
ReplyDeletemary, are you in sydney, when i was there i remember seeing a giant cross commemorating michael dwyer, the wicklow chief, but its not the one in waverly cemetary. ive lukd for it on the net and google earth but cant find it. do u know anything about this cross? it was south of the bay on the coast (ithink) i was living in bondi up from the beach on a hill and we could see this cross from the roof garden. i used to sing dunlavin green when i was down there, without knowing who the michael dwyer mentioned in the last verse was. when i saw his name under the cross the day we went up to it i had am emotional moment to say the least - i honestly knew nothing about him, he was a lad mentioned in a song to me up til then, thats all. the greatest fighter ireland ever had. if the french had landed proper, o connell street would be dwyer street. and we would not have experienced genocide of 1840s. i read a great story about dwyer lately - a robin came into his cave in glendalough and woke him as the brits were coming up the glen. if anyone ever made a film of dwyer, it would be one of the greatest films ever made. what i have found out about dwyer over the last few years has given me hope and broken my heart at the same time. God bless the great wicklow chief. i hope you do a few paintings of him and his story mary. the more you look into his life, you realise he was a total one off, and like most of us irish, could be a bit of a disaster too in terms of minding himself. 70 years after he died 200,000 came out to pay their respect when he was re-interred in waverly cemetary. thats two hundred thousand.
lament for michael dwyer
indomitable you were, michael dwyer of the mountain
indomitable you were, our great wicklow chief
you lead us like o'neill of old
with the last of the great woodes
as your battleground and home
a thorn in the side of an empire
a flame in the hearts of your people.
alas, far from those wild woodes
your last days were spent
from your dear comrades in wicklow
your life was wrenched
to the other side of the world.
but hear this Michael Dwyer!
as long as there is ireland
your name will be heard
and your fight remembered,
Michael Dwyer of the mountain
Our great Wicklow chief,
Michael Dwyer of the mountain,
the Indomitable.
Simon , Islam in not apolitical, so why do you make a distinction between Islamic and Islamist? (Its a bogus concept, for those who seek bogosity.)
ReplyDeleteWho gives anyone the right to redicule and slate anyone else because of their religious beliefs or lack of and then stand up with a straight face and insist that it is their right and that they are practising freedom of speech. Fuck their right to insult me or anyone else being under the impression that they will not have to account for what they say. The pope says if you insult his mother he would deem it acceptable to strike out. Well heres news for you, insult my mother, father, brother sister, son or daughter or friend and I will not just strike out I will kick the living shit out of you. Then you can stand and declare your right to free speech all you like. You will then be properly educated in the fact that the pen is not mightier than the sword. With free speech comes responsibility, if you are not intelligent enough to realise this then don't be surprised if you are forced to accept the consequences of your words. You are responsible for your actions and also for your words. Don't be so stupid to think that because you decide to insult someone or their beliefs that you have some right to. I feel sorry for the deluded people who worked for this French rag who died but they had a brain and should have engaged it. You will reap what you sow,has been and will always be. No Muslim ever kicked my door in or broke my ribs with the butt of a rifle. No Muslim ever insulted me or called me an Irish bastard. To the best of my knowledge they were not Muslims who murdered 14 innocent civilians in Derry on bloody sunday. They were not Muslims who imprisoned the Guilford four or Birmingham six,do I have to go on??. Catch a grip folks yous are being manipulated by those who would drown you in an inch of water for their own ends. Some of the nicest people I know are muslem, some of the biggest bastards are Christians. I have never felt threatened or intimidated by any muslem. What I have read on this blog reminds me of old newspaper articles I once read from the times in London describing the bog men savages from this country. Nothing seems to have changed accept the victims.
ReplyDeleteGrouch,
ReplyDeleteThe Vatican (Romans) are up to their necks in the NWO.. and the Jeuist's pull the stings in that dept.. Pope Frankie is a Jesuit (thats how far their power goes, right to the summit).
What about Roberto Calvi (Gods banker) found strung up under Blackfriars bridge because he lost them millions and Pope John 1st (perfectly healthy) dies after a month or so in office (he was going to blow the lid on the scam)....
They make and break North American president's (sometimes they kill them), stage the odd coup d'etat in south American and the middle east when it suit's them. Allow HSBC to launder billions of narco-dollars through Swiss bank accounts..Then slap them ( the bankers) on the wrist.. They've been known to kill (and behead) kings & queens through the centuries..
They say The Brics bank is a glimpse of the future
'Thirteen years ago, Brics was a marketing ploy dreamt up by Jim O’Neill, then chief economist at Goldman Sachs.'
Dunno, maybe Jim O'Neill still has some Celtic Warrior blood in his veins like the Wicklow Chief had and do the right thing..
But BRICS was at first simply a marketing ploy by Goldman-Sachs.. ( a man with sacks of gold)..
DaithiD "Simon , Islam in not apolitical, so why do you make a distinction between Islamic and Islamist? (Its a bogus concept, for those who seek bogosity.)"
ReplyDeleteI don't think I was doing that DaithiD. I know 'Islamic' and 'Islamist' as words have closer definitions as adjectives than as nouns but I did not use both yet alone make a distinction.
I have no idea why you want to get into semantics.
If you are trying to say all Muslims are Islamic Fundamentalists I would have to disagree. There is much evidence to the contrary. Particularly the necessity to tag on the word "Fundamentalist" to "Islamic". If all Muslims were 'fundamentalists' we wouldn't need to use that word to qualify who we were referring to. Also, not all Islamic Fundamentalists support violence.
Pat Murphy,
ReplyDelete"Well heres news for you, insult my mother, father, brother sister, son or daughter or friend and I will not just strike out I will kick the living shit out of you. Then you can stand and declare your right to free speech all you like. You will then be properly educated in the fact that the pen is not mightier than the sword."
Your mother was a hamster, your father smelt of elderberries, your siblings are professional goat molesters, and your children were actually fathered by miscellaneous milkmen and couriers.
How do you like them apples?
PS. I would insult your friends, but do you actually have any?
dont rise to it pat. his mam tells me he has no friends either. poor sod.
ReplyDeleteAlfie,
ReplyDelete'How do you like them apples?'
Bon Appetit Pat!
Partial to an auld Pink Lady myself and speaking of pink ladies, if poor Pat was angry before I suspect your interjection will have set him on the road to critical mass - albeit upon his funky moped.
Funny how the really angry people always feel compelled to look.
Oh how the liberals are easily led. So this blog is now a vehicle for anti-Muslim racism.
ReplyDeleteAlfie
ReplyDeletethis could be more entertaining than pacman mayweather lol
Thanks Simon, Of course I don’t think all Muslims are fanatics. An analogy : if the only Nazi I met was Schindler, and knowing little of the ideology I infer Naziism must be basically decent, as this man in manifestly decent. I would be sorely mistaken. You don’t know pious those sound Muslims are, that they are decent inspite of their faith. That gap between evidence and emotion is where propaganda does its work, we think things but we don’t know why.
ReplyDelete@ Pat Murphy RE ‘The pope says if you insult his mother he would deem it acceptable to strike out. Well heres news for you, insult my mother, father, brother sister, son or daughter or friend and I will not just strike out I will kick the living shit out of you.’
ReplyDeleteThe Pope is a fool who sanctioned violence reactionary responses/actions for individuals who feel offended or are offended. This is in direct opposition to the Christian Scriptures What happened to turn the other cheek. As an EX Catholic I am offended every time I see even an image of the Pope and his simpering sycophants.swishing around in their jewels & robes insisting they represent the Christ. Rich on blood money and bullshit and control. There is a whole generation of kids now adults whose childhoods were turned into a nightmare courtesy of Catholicism & the corruption of the Vatican.
If anyone had the right to pack a punch literally on the Vatican freaks and on the Pope’s dile it is all us survivors who should be first in line. We however deserve our dignity and utilise other ways to pack a punch – through art, through voice through protest.
Violence may initially feel like righteous revenge but it all a hideous delusion. It only begets more violence.
NB That is why freedom of expression in every genre is so important… Get it on board and in your head so you understand. For a just and free society all voices have a right to be represented. We cannot be tiptoeing around on eggshells being censored by diverse dictatorial religious views and threats and that goes for all sectors of society including secular.
You sound young, gee'd up and such That's not a crime but engage your own brain not feed off a Popes utterance. God gave u a brain Use it.
Perhaps it would fare you well to read the Christian Bible and familiarise with the scriptures including read up on the Vatican – it's sordid history and into the now. Ask yourself this - what did the Vatican ever do for Ireland for our people that was righteous and smacked of liberty for the people?
It is quite the self righteous trip of delusions – the old I am so offended number and it can kill as amply demonstrated in France…
@ Black Mountain Hood Exercising my right to freedom of expression Ah shut yer cakehole U windup & useless sap Too gutless to even put your real name here. There is no ill intent towards any Muslims here but plenty of anger re the actions of some and the dogma and dictates. Takfirism - word for you to ponder and research then open your gob and produce something of worth. Racism by the way is a manmade construct Also research scientific racism origins and constructs...
ReplyDelete@ Grouch I only know the Irish monument out the Waverly Cemetery... Never seen a tall Celtic cross anywhere else. Yeah Michael Dwyer was a brave Irishman Someone to be proud of. Slan
ReplyDeleteits also a vehicle for gobshites.
ReplyDeletei was just wondering there, if pat, who i dont know from adam, never knew his parents and was raised in an orphanage and witnessed his siblings die young and did in fact raise a child fathered by the milkman, and if i then read he tracked down free speech alfie to the spare room in his mams house and strangled him with the keyboard flex, i would say you had it coming alfie. freedom of silence is something u shud look into.
ReplyDeleteDaithiD You might fall victim to propaganda. We all do to some extent or another. I don't think your Nazi analogy is useful on any level.
ReplyDeleteI think things but I do know why.
Grouch,
ReplyDelete"i was just wondering there, if pat, who i dont know from adam, never knew his parents and was raised in an orphanage and witnessed his siblings die young and did in fact raise a child fathered by the milkman, and if i then read he tracked down free speech alfie to the spare room in his mams house and strangled him with the keyboard flex, i would say you had it coming alfie."
If that were the case and I had indeed divined Pat Murphy's life story, I would consider myself a modern-day prophet and declare you a blasphemer for using my name without capitalising the first letter.
And just so you know, I actually have my very own room in my Mammy's house, and she promises to let me stay up late this Friday to watch DVDs with Pat Murphy and all five of our imaginary friends.
You're not invited though.
Mary dear, slacken the elastic it is not doing your cred any good you turn coat you. Can't comment if the holy father is a fool or not but if you say so well who am I to argue especially with someone who knows all those big words and is an artist to boot. Sadly I am not as young as I once was and not nearly as young as I would like to be,bitch. Thankfully can occasionally still be gee'd up. Alf,still living with ma and da and playing with your c c c computer?. Grouch,I'm afraid to say but no man can be 100% sure. Read once that some woman had a baby with two fathers. Might have been bullshit but well worth thinking about. Maybe Marys not even a woman and Alf is in fact Mary?. What would you think of that?. "Alfie, the Muslim hateing pink lady". Has a certain ring to it don't you think?.
ReplyDeleteSimon am able to post using phone. Not very good at it as a I managed to lose one today. Apologies over delayed publication of review on mistaken assumption

SIMON: AM, No need to apologise. I know you are up to your eyes. Even if you weren't busy it is absolutely your timescale. Thanks for considering it in the first place.
ReplyDeleteSimon, I tried analagous reasoning on this thread instead of quotations of totalitarian tendency. I think it fits but hey. They say you can lead a horse to water but cant make it drink , although the CIA say it doesnt matter, they will administer it anally.(Probably another analogy there for you)
ReplyDeletemary, im on a mission and thanks for that ur very good, i was with a lad the day we came across it and im trying to track him down, im absolutely certain it was not waverly, i will keep u posted mo chara.

Oh jeez, I feel really bad. I sure am sorry for complaining about the sheer stupidity of your post now.
Hey, you know what? Forget what I said before. You are more than welcome at my Mammy's house, Grouch. Sure I'll tell Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and the rest of the muppets to come over as well and we can make a proper night of it.
IS/Daesh show of strength in Gaza for first time- 2015-01-23 Shahada (Muslim declaration of faith) and Islamic State symbol are combined. There is a poster message praising the perpetrators of slaughter at Hebdo/France & a burning of the French flag A poster message declares they are coming for followers of the Cross (Christians) which would also mean all ‘infidels’ believers or non believers. Palestinians speak of revenge (translated in video)
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR3AKjqnvpE
(IS/Daesh) The slaughter and slaughterhouses of Muslim minorities and Christians verified and filmed For Christians they are beheaded in ceremonies in which they are forced to kneel, with their hands and feet bound as the death sentence read/imposed because the victim refuses to renounce Christianity and embrace Islam. There are quite a few videos in article which are extremely graphic (Liveleak ones)

ReplyDeleteSarah Heaton has left a new comment on your post "People Before Prophet":
ReplyDelete"People before Prophet" - what a fantastic play on words! Well done A.M, it's a great letter.
Mary, here's another one for your list. Last week Sheikh Mohammed Saleh al-Munajjid issued a fatwa against building snowmen, because they're un-Islamic.
I can't respect anyone who has it in for snowmen!
maybe they allow snow women, provided theyre in burkas
ReplyDelete@ Sarah Heaton yes I saw that fatwa re the snowman and felt sad I just couldn’t larf about it… U know it is the striving for purity and righteousness evidenced in ALL religions that creates these sort of perception/rulings… Does it strike you as ironic that we can talk freely on an atheist blog about God/G-d/Allah?!! It does me… haha good old Anthony allowing us to speak our truths… without censoring... I love atheists for standing with us survivors and for other righteous causes. Surely God/G-d loves them for standing for right…
ReplyDeleteBRING BACK BREHON LAW is what I say Restore our culture fully. Throw the Catholic Church and the Loyalists out of Ireland and return to Celtic Christianity sans Rome’s diktats. NO to Sharia YES to Brehon Law. Life is all too short… where do all the religions and believers and non believers and our martyrs of various beliefs go after they die?
It’s a head melter of such gigantic proportions and unfathomable… We have protested/marched Muslim, non believers, Jews and Christians for years now for the Palestinians and very little has changed.
All our names (urs defo would be and I have seen mine with a foto of me) on a Zionist watchlist – Bibi’s devotees serve him well. U know the drill. Look at Ireland – what was all the suffering for? Our ppl are more shackled than ever before and subjugated by our own quislings… It’s like certain tribes on this earth are cursed from the womb to the tomb. In Australia I have watched the suffering of the people of this land for decades and protested with them for years – too little has changed. I am old and tired of this world’s evil madness – Zionism ‘racism’ Mossad Jesuits Illuminati Masons etc And Ali Selim thinks Sharia is the answer!!
