Republican Network for Unity election candidate Sammy Cusick with a statement endorsing other republicans seeking election in North Belfast. The statement initially featured on the RNU website on 30 April 2014.

Oldpark RNU Representative, Sammy Cusick has endorsed North Belfast Independent Candidates, Dee Fennell (Oldpark) and Fra Hughes (Castle).

After the closing of nominations for Belfast Council. Republican Network for Unity (RNU) Candidate, Sammy Cusick has called upon his friends and supporters to also endorse Fra Hughes in Castle and Dee Fennell in the Oldpark Wards respectively in the forthcoming elections.

RNU Activist, Sammy Cusick commented:

The way to strengthen working-class, socialist and republican unity is for my friends and supporters to cast their second preference vote in favour of Republican Candidate, Dee Fennell. I also call upon the electorate in the Castle area to give Socialist, Fra Hughes their first preference in the ballot.

  1. Once again fair dues to the RNU lads, as always prepared to put the people before the party

  2. Sounds like sound advice

When I enter the Polling Booth this May, I will place my Number One beside Sammy Cusick's name and my Number Two beside Dee Fennell's name. Fellow Voters in the Oldpark Ward should do likewise, or give Dee your Number One and Sammy your Number Two and may the best Candidate win. Finally, I would like to wish Sammy Cusick, Tommy Doherty, Dee Fennell, Padraic MacCoitir, Maire Drumm and Fra Hughes the best of luck for the election.

  3. While other pay lip service to Republican unity; RNU are consistently carrying it out. Setting aside egos & dismissing rigid political dogma for the betterment of the working class. Maith sibhse RNU. I know where my vote will be going.

  4. From Ardoyne Republican

It's great to see RNU and Sammy Cusick encouraging their families, friends and supporters across North Belfast to also vote for Fra Hughes and Dee Fennell. A very progressive statement indeed and I wish, Sammy, Dee and Fra
well for the elections later this month.
