  2. I shudder to think how many people will kill themselves this week. I hate this thing. Spoilt celtic tiger brats demanding €300 present from their unemployed parents who feel guilty enough to go to a money lender to get them.

Mothers gulping down valium just to get a nights sleep.

I've seen more hard men and women cry this week than ever before.

Of course Fainna Fail is slashing the dole for young people for a reason, to make them emigrate. Working class youth are leaving Wexford in droves, mainly for Austrailia, the eighties all over again.

michaelhenry - I believe in Jesus and I hate Christmas, always did. Chirstmas is the fesival of mammon.

  4. Anthony hope u have a good fam time over Christmas/New Year. Thanks for such a great blog, writings and insights. Has kicked me to employ critical thinking & read/think/chew stuff over. Read books i would never have known of or considered. Much apprec.
@Fionnuala & Marty all the best too for C'mas/New Year. Love reading ur input - u r both good value too!
@ Graycrow ppl top themselves money or not. Once the distraction/pseudo comfort of materialism is ripped away one is left with oneself... If there was a pre-disposition to depression it will take over bigtime that is true. Life is a fight from beginning to end... I see no point in topping meself just cos i am a lower socioeconomic person. Far from it my revenge is grabbing at education and having a voice. Thats what needs to be injected into ppls consciousness - spur the next generation on to higher ground.
@ Michealhenry as a believer in God i dont enjoy the hoopla at C'mas. All the wheeling out of tokenism/carols/pseudo goodwill/the dominant version of Jesus as a sickly sweet blue eyed aryan god for a few days and the rest of the year forget it all... Ultimate hypocrisy Now get savvy to what u could do with all that snow. Melt it - bottle it and sell it as holy water from Mother Eire to the endless suckers out there who will buy it. On the other hand make a snowman of the bearded one for passersby to hurl abuse/snowballs at.
On that horribly festive note must away :-)

  8. mise eire,
there is a terrible lot of hopelessness amongst young people. We live in a world where sadly materialism is the order of the day.
Suicide is also endemic here especially in the socially deprived areas.
We never got the promised future for our children, we got fu#k all.

  12. mise eire, I have melted a considerable amount of people myself, no worries.
You made us all laugh here at home especially with the dissident children craic.
A very happy Christmas to you too.
Remember to pay for any of the drink you consume at Christmas and if you don't, don't get caught.

I see the Taoiseach is happy with the outcome of the recent EU summit agreeing the revision to the Lisbon Treaty allowing the transformations of the European Financial Stability Facility required for a Federal Union. In his own words on wether a referendum was necessary - “There is no substantive element added to the drafts we’ve been studying up until now,” and "what’s in our interest is a stable euro area."

  15. Rory,

Nice thought. Enjoy even though it is a con season! It started with the biggest con ever – god born – and the con continues today

    Helen,

It has been a pleasure to have you here. Merry Christmas and a happy new Year

    Saint?MaryHedgehog

    You enjoy yours as well.

I think the discussions here lead me to read books I never intended reading or to bring forward others I intended to read.

Holy snow – never thought of that.
