Middle East “Experts” Misuse Irish Peace Process

David Cronin suggests in Electronic Intifada that Sinn Fein's links with Likud help promote normalisation and do nothing to address the root cause.

An inquest has opened into how the British Army massacred civilians
in the Ballymurphy area of Belfast during the early 1970s.

Few things make me more suspicious than when a “think tank” dedicates itself to “conflict resolution.”

… One trend that can be detected among these “think tanks” is that they point to Ireland as an example of where violence can be halted through negotiation.

A London-based group called Forward Thinking has helped set (or at least shape) this trend.

For the past couple of years, it has arranged for Irish republicans in Sinn Féin to have chats with Likud, Israel’s largest governing party. The arrangement has drawn opposition from within the membership of Sinn Féin, which officially supports the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel.

  1. Rick Sanchez of RT news interviewed Chris Hedges who say's “Israel can no longer control its narrative or hide the brutality of their apartheid system.” and how "Israel is frightened & desperate."

And how Israel are forcing American States to get public officials to sign into law "Anti BDS statutes. Basically means if you work in the American public sector and you refuse to sign a paper saying you will never critic Israel's agenda in Gaza and the West Bank you lose your job as recently happened to a Texan teacher of Palestinian origin...

  3. How can Sinn Féin square taking part in this think-tank with seemingly supporting BDS. I can't see how they could do the two. It is also a timely article because it asks questions about the motives of Sinn Féin's latest foray in Palestine and it's much acclaimed support for BDS. No doubt it made for a great photo shoot which all helps to counteract the Toibin factor and other disaffections.

However, I don't think we have had an explanation from the Party about this seemingly Jeykll & Hyde politic.
