Volunteer Sean McKenna 40th Anniversary Commemoration Upcoming In Monaghan

The 1916 Societies with word of a 40th anniversary commemoration this weekend in Monaghan in honour of IRA Volunteer Sean McKenna.



The James Connolly Society Monaghan are holding a 40th Anniversary Commemoration for Volunteer Sean McKenna on Sunday 14th June in Clara, Co. Monaghan.

Sean McKenna was among the ‘Hooded Men’, a group of 12 notoriously selected by Britain for indepth interrogation and torture as part of ‘Operation Demetrius’ in 1971. He died in 1975 from heart failure at 45 years of age, his premature death a result of his brutal treatment at the hands of the British Army.
