Bobby Sands went on Hunger strike for the 5 demands-which he and his 9 comrades got- even Richard O'rawe now says that the hunger strikers got the demands- so i dont know why you would say that Bobby Sands died for nothing-
No criticism Brian but I thought Marian and Doloures Price would have been well up there. You got it right about Mary Robinson though, an amazing woman which is a lot more than can be said for the one that followed her.
Got to agree with Nuala on that one ,mind you loads of outstanding women have emerged in the struggle for Irelands freedom, Mc Aleese is imo not one of them,

I was looking at a mural on the Falls Road last week of the three Armagh hunger strikers and I thought about Marian and Doloures enduring 200 hundred days force feeding and apart from a few lifelong republicans you would never hear their names.
